2017 VW UP steering angle won't adjust

Lately I obtained a 2017 (Facelift model) VW UP! 55kW 3-doors.
After a crash were both front airbags deployed I managed to reset the #44 steering controlller back to Factory settings. So power steering works again.
"You never know what your missing untill it's gone "
Also new airbags are in, everything reset - no errors there.

I had to recode #44 again (from 0003000 to 000700) but that was no problem since a had a backup ;-)
But now I am stuck and could not find my situation here in this forum explained.
I cannot calibrate the steering angle. When steering is straight, it shows valueas around 400 (!)degrees. I read the Steering Angle Senor: Raw Value

As if I am one turn off. But I never did any mechanical work on the steering system, car drives normally.

I think 400 is too much to calibrate.( I know that on a Audi A3 8P I was able to calibrate only if raw data was between -5 and + 5 degrees)

What am I missing here? What should / can I do to start the calibrating process?

(as this is my first post ever ... I hope to get better at this. Any input welcome)

- The post looks good, short simple, with an Auto-Scan in the 'Code' format and it is to the point.

I think 400 is too much to calibrate.( I know that on a Audi A3 8P I was able to calibrate only if raw data was between -5 and + 5 degrees)

- I have never worked on an 'UP', however if you are looking at the G85 actual value and it is 'around 400 degrees', like other VAG vehicles that does not appear to be correct if the steering wheel and wheels are straight ahead. You typically will not be able to perform the basic settings until the G85 is as close to [0.00] as you can get it.

Questions:
- Does the value you are looking at move with the movement of the steering wheel, can you get it to read [0.00]?

- If so, what are the positions of the wheels and steering wheel?

- Also check the end-stop values, when the steering wheel is all the way to the right and the left, what are the readings?

Believe it or not, the car is beeing driven so I do not have access all days (needless to says it drives lousy ... with a lot of errors).
I took the steering wheel off. Found out that the steering angle signal comes from the steering rack. There is no sensor in the slipring.
I can get raw data to read 0.0 deg.--> Steering wheel is almost 1 turn to the right, so are the wheels.
I set it to 4.9 deg and tried to calibrate from there. But I cannot, although all prerequisites are met (I think)

So for the end stops: left reads -535.9 where right reads -123.7
The sigs flips around -700. So -701 will be +700 and from tehre it goes to 0.
I tried to (again) go back to Factory default but now with my wheels a kinda straight. It says it buys it but I see long coding did not change (as it did before when performing Reset).
Maybe my login is false (used the popup value)?
Or do I need to reset the steering angle in the ABS module? Tried this -but no luck.
Also I could change the steering wheel sensor from extern to intern in #44. Then it reads 0.00 deg on Steering Angle (NOT the Raw Data) even if I turn the steering wheel. So I guess I am looking at a non-existing sensor in the slipring in that case.

Any next steps you can suggest?

Mechanical setting incorrect still for baseline point of rack or SAS G85 is bad.

If baseline point is mechanically wrong ... but steering is straight at 400 deg. ... does this mean I have to adjust the steering rods coming from the rack? So basically shift the rack (inside) by making one outgoing rod shorter and the other longer? Or is there a way of mechanically adjusting the sensor in the rack. Which would make more sense.
I was hoping the sensor would ask for a new calibration point if I would take the battery off for a week or so :-)

Was a solution found for this in the end please? I'm having the same issue. the measurement "Steering angle senseor: raw value" IDE09230 is showing 0 degrees when the wheel is about 1.5 turns to the left. when the wheels are dead straight, it shows about -370 degrees , then full lock right is 571 degrees and full lock left is 162 degrees.
I've followed the processes I've found for the general g85 steering calibration, but the security code 19259 isn't accepted. When using the hover over suggested security code I get "Aborted due to malfunction" when running 04-Basic settings -> Steering angle sensor MAS00815.
I have tried the suggested process from https://diagnostics.vis4vag.com/en/...tting-of-steering-wheel-turn-angle-sensor-g85 however this process suggests Security Code 19249, which also isn't accepted

I believe the basic setting of the G85 is done in the ABS controller and not in the power steering module.

Hi, @APV_Com, was your vehicle also in "a crash" as described by the OP ? I'm speculating, but in his case the steering is most likely so far off because the rack jumped some teeth internally when the tire/wheel (s) were impacted. Or, the structure the steering rack is mounted to is misaligned.

In your case, presuming the vehicle wasn't involved in a collision, and your mileage is so low, is there any repairs you attempted to do ? Did you do something to cause this fault code? Any history to this concern here?

Yes it was in a crash same as the op, does that mean a new tracks is need?or can this be adjusted, it's mounted correctly as far as I can tell and the power steering works at speed, but just doesn't work at low speed/stationary
