Interface Update Fail

So today opened up VCDS plugged into car, and got no comm with solid yellow/orange light on dongle.

Opened up options and hit test, can find dongle but says needs update. Hit ok opens up Interface Config, and check for updates.

Says has Update Found, 4 new DS versions to update. Hit Download and Update.

Sits there saying its going thru updates etc. Then says in box on right that Error Code -8, Download Failed.

Have tried many different wifi connections, and hooking up directly to modem to check issue with internet possibly and still fails.

Are you using VCDS-Mobile at all? If you're using that HEX-NET just for VCDS on a PC, the DS update doesn't matter, and it looks like the rest of the stuff (CB and so on) is up-to-date.

@Shaun may have some tips for getting the DS sorted though.

Have never used the vcds mobile yet....
Just always on PC here at the shop.

What dataset version does VCIConfig show, is it 00000046? There could be a problem with the SD card in the interface, but you should still be able to use it with VCDS without this.
You could try with the interface powered up, hold the red button down for about 50s. You should get a long beep, then check if it will update after that.

So yes it was showing the 0000046

Held down red button for 50sec, rechecked for updates and did not need any updates, shows the 30000060 now. And everything works. Does not need an update and lets me check and test and save.

So not sure if something was just locked up

If you're not using Mobile, you can check the "Skip VCDS-Mobile Updates" on the Update screen in VCIConfig.
