We shouldn't be 'guessing' this stuff for 10+yr old ABS controllers - hasn't there been enough ESP 8.2i scans over the years on known cars & configurations to get us at least 90% insight on this topic ?

Byte 0 = 0x31 for LHD Audi A1 / 0x33 for RHD Audi A1
It follows then that :
Byte 8 = 0xCC for LHD Audi A1 / 0x8C for RHD Audi A1
I also have access to a RHD 6R Polo with same ABS and that has byte 0/8 = 0x23/0xC4 so that is consistent as well.

I was about to embark on making one of my own, but it seems you are some steps ahead.
It would be so much easier if all the knowledge on this one was covered by VCDS to guide users onto correct coding.

this is a calculator i made myself in google sheets, i'll send you a PM
So I believe alltogether was an issue as
byte 0 - for LHD Audi (31), but we tried as RHD (33)
byte 4 - gearbox type, we have tried as automatic (23) and another brand as manual (43), but 41 was work, I have tried to change only this byte straightaway it was rejected
byte 8 - we have tried with (CC) but its works with (8C)
byte 12 - due to byte 4 has been changed
byte 15 - engine type was not clear which one need to use, I have tried separetly from (40 to 52), only 52 was works once all codings were correct
byte 16 - it was not clear what to select as this A1 is complety basic (no hill holds, no TPMS, no e brake etc)
@BecsuGt - according to PL24 that car you coded does have PR-UG3 "Hill Start Assist" and Byte 16 reflects same value as one I have here (0x0C) with the same feature.
For Byte 04 could you try 0x21 and obviously Byte 12 need to be the reverse at 0x84. Seems like that might work - unless its in conflict with engine type in Byte 15.

My friend's car comes with manual handbrake, so there is no hill start assist, and I have checked in byte 16 its not selected as well. So its seems to be correct like this.
Tomorrow I will try byte 04, but code 43 and 23 already rejected, so I expect 21 will be rejected too as its related to VW type most likely. Will see.
Trust me - that car has the same hill start assist feature as the A1 we have here - nothing to do with same manual handbrake that we have either, but I have never actually tried to use the feature myself - I coded the stupid-stop-start feature off so that probably disables hill start assist as well. Please do not treat the linked page I shared as 100% factually accurate - it was my best summary of what I found elsewhere, but with more time & other scans it could be improved upon - there is a bit more complexity in there.
From what I see, this might be true:
PR-UG1 is Hill Hold Assist (will hold brakes on a hill persistently), Byte 16 = 0x01 on 6R Polo
PR-UG3 is Hill Start Assist (will hold brakes on a hill temporarily), Byte 16 = 0x0C on Audi A1
PR-UG4 is a combination of UG1 & UG3 apparently but unsure how system determines which, Byte 16 = 0x0D on Audi A1
