Hi guys,

I'm Colin. I've bought the new Hex V2 system and patiently waiting for it to be delivered today from Gendan.

I've bought the 3 VIN version for personal use so that I can carry out some retrofits on my car. I was looking at the guides for changing the cluster and was wondering if doing so would end up using 2 VIN allocations?

I watched the Hex V2 registration video last night so I'm ready to go as soon as I get the interface.

Sorry, its a 2005 Audi A3 Sportback with the VDO cluster. The replacement cluster is from the same year and is also VDO.

Then it should be dobable with VCDS if you have some means of getting the security ("PIN") codes from both clusters.

I do not think you'll need to use up a second VIN.

I would have thought it was IMMO4C - my 2004 3.2 3dr A3 w/VDO was.

You may be right. I don't have reference scans from an 8P earlier than MY2006 handy.

Rule of thumb on VWs was that 4C started at roughly MY 2007, but it looks like the 8P Audis got it earlier; I just checked some 2006 scans and they have Immo serial numbers that start with AUX. :(

I can send you some scans if you wish Uwe?

I have read both clusters with a genuine Carprog, one in the car via OBD and one on the bench direct from the 93C86 chip. Both clusters are fitted with the same 93C86 chip. It seems somewhere around late 2005 they change. My car seems to have been built March/April 2005. The replacement cluster is dated 31 May 2005.

Both pins are now available for the swap. I'll get on with the swap and see if it uses two VINs.

No I was able to read it direct and in circuit using carprog and the A6 adapter, I made that myself though. I did remove the chip afterwards to double check I was getting a proper dump which I was. In circuit was fine.

This is Immo 4 cluster with Fujitsu MCU, worst cluster they ever made in Audi.Is it replacement cluster has same memory or is it Micronas?
And VCDS can not do this , I can assure you in that.
Anyway even if VCDS can do it , you will need to get PIN, and other tools that reads pin can do cluster replacement on this type of the cluster.

The current and replacement cluster are both 93C86 and Fujitsu MCU. I have read the pin already from my existing cluster using carprog without any issues, turns out the new (used) cluster PIN I have isn't working :(

Can anyone advise the memory address for the pin on these 93C86 units? A few people have given me the same pin from the dump but I still cant log in to the new cluster to adapt it to my car! My thinking is to change the pin in the dump to something I know.

Just to update this, I was able to read and change the PIN for the new cluster to the same as the one from the old cluster. Some small issues to work around though, those are in other threads of mine!
