Have you done a TBA per the wiki after eliminating other possible causes ?
Thanks, I'll look into those items. Dirty throttle body sounds plausible.

Have you checked for false air leak and proper MAP sensor function to correlate the MAF in addition to TBA as Jake sited?
Things such as faulty VC diaphragm, booster line/booster leak into car, or stuck open N80/LDP circuit.......that you may not hear....or see change with sprays.

Thanks for the info Jack, I tried the tba process as per kwp2000 instruction but after about 15 secs I get error message stating controller not responding, maybe I need to read more

Make sure doing with engine not running and battery charger connected.

0x01-04-060 and 063 for kick down.

Ok, so I removed TB, it was pretty grimy, cleaned it spotless reassembled, ran TBA and it completed, tried 063 kickdown but keep getting "error" displayed in far right hand box, should of taken a screen shot, is there some trick to this kick down adjustment?

I would honestly not worry about the kick down relearn. A few pedal to the floor runs and it will be fine.

Thanks, sounds like a good idea, I'm back to chasing the P0068 demon again anyhow, cleaning and tba didn't do it, went a little further before it turned on the MIL.

Have you isolated for false air?

Kick-down 063 should always be verified it has completed in 0x01-08-063

To run kick-down 0x01-04-063 engine not running and display field 4 10xTimes ......Then hold pedal to floor. Result ADP-OK

Not performing kick-down can effect the load request to the trans.......... causing shifting problems if the ADP isn't performed.
Additional damage to the transmission can happen over time............
If it doesn't select the next lowest gear to meet the load requested............ because it is in too high of a gear for immediate load requirements.
Some ECU's will restrict the shift program until all ADP's are completed.
What is really lame is that many times the ECU doesn't display a DTC other than the word ERROR in field 4 of 0x01-08-063.........

Thanks Jack, I'm just looking for something to spray around lines and fittings, I can't hear anything hissing. tb cleaner should work? What tells engine how much air in motor? Maf tells how much metered air, is there a Map sensor?

The map sensor and the MAF perform this task and the MAP tells the ecu were atmospheric change over occurs and in forced air also shows boost and not just vacuum.
Some MAF sensors and MAP sensors support an IAT combined in addition to being on its own in the Intake path for other applications.

This is why a quick review of WD will always be helpful in determining this or component finders within the repair manual.

It would be advised in addition to using sprays............. to maybe see the thread/video Jef made on trims.

http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?396-Fuel-Trim-Thread&highlight=fuel+trim

Not hearing a hissing snake............. isn't always there when things such as the VC vent, booster, N80 are leaking internally or other leaks.

Consider a mighty vac to check lines........... with vacuum caps to isolate potential lines for pinholes.
In addition the function of noids watching the vacuum while using VCDS outputs to verify hold and release.

Well I finally decided I have chased this code around long enough, took it to dealer to diagnose. They say I need to replace throttle body, getting out of spec readings on potentiometers intermittently, which kind of makes sense as sometime I could hear the TB cycling during the TBA process, sometimes no sound at all. Who's got best deal on throttle body these days?

Personally I think that is a bad diagnosis and the TV will make no change in this error.

Do you get an EPC light or ever during drive?

What deviations are they describing to you and is there a DTC with stamp?

This is most likely false air or air via an open noid stuck................

I would want to see the kick down set and say ADP-OK.

Drive the car and recheck measuring block 063 to see if it sets on it's own.

If not and you can't get it to adapt I would do battery voodo. Disconnect the battery both ends! While disconnected from battery!!! Hold the positive & negative terminals of battery together for 5 min.
I know sounds stupid... This will clear all learned values is all modules. Reconnect battery and retry T/B adaption and kick down.

If you think I am nuts wait for some one else to confirm my suggestion.

I also don't think the T/B is bad if it adapt's

Good Luck

I agree with Stan Lee Marvel Comics.............. that a default reset is always a great idea to verify learned values are not in a loop and to get a fresh ADP.
While kick down isn't going to be seen for this issue of deviation, it is still important to make sure it is complete.

This is a static fault, and not sporadic with some pretty defined diagnostic paths.

Do you have DTC's which show an intermittent/sporadic history for this code?

"063" show adp ok, vacuum test shows no leaking air, only code set is P0068, If not TB, i'm stumped, maybe bad ECU,
Will try battery disconnect and contacting cable ends. No EPC light comes on, only on when engine not running and key is on, once started light goes out.
Adaptation is sporadic, sometimes it won't adapt on first try, sometimes takes 2 or 3 attempts to get TBA to complete.

**Conditions that cause code to set**
With P0068 cleared, I'll be driving along and then remove my foot from the accelerator, speed is irrelevant, happens at low speed or high speed, sometimes will stay clear for 50-100 kms but then MIL comes on, P0068 is set.

Ok, so after exhausting all possible vacuum leaks, still getting P0068. I went ahead and replaced the TV and re aligned, so far after 500 kms, no code, treg is more responsive and fuel calculator has changed from 1.9 L/hr at idle in park to 1 L/hr, idle rpm steady at 650. I hope I got it.:)
