Picked up a '12 plate Octavia VRS TD a few weeks ago, aircon wasn't good, so popped it into ATS for a clean and charge but they told me the system had a fault.

Ran a scan - had been meaning to since I got it but had a hectic few weeks at work - until I left there this week (lets not go there lol) and found 3 issues. I'm guessing the lack of a sensor on eBay or GSF means a trip to the dealer for the sensor, But I'm confused about the other 2 issues Steering assist had a signal issue and a rear window has a setting issue. Can anyone enlighten me? Everything works fine (except the air con...)

Let's start with the easiest thing:

Run the rear left window all the way down by holding the switch in the down position. When it bottoms out, continue to hold the switch in the down position for 2 full seconds. Release it momentarily, then press and hold it down for two more seconds.

Then run the rear left window all the way up by holding the switch in the up position. When it tops out, continue to hold the switch in the up position for 2 full seconds. Release it momentarily, then press and hold it up for two more seconds.

You may need to repeat this once or twice.

The fault in 44 - Steering Assist: I would clear it and not worry about it unless it reappears.

With the aircon, go to Adv. Meas. Values in 08 - Auto HVAC and have a look at these measuring values:

IDE00198-ENG100282 -- Refrigerant pressure
IDE00976 -- Left front vent temperature

... and report what you find there.

Checked those values as asked.
IDE00198 (Refrigerant Pressure) Reports as 4 bar
IDE00976 (Left Front Vent Temp) Reports as 85 degrees c

It certainly isn't anywhere near that warm today given we have our usual Welsh summer weather in play :(

Swapped out the sensor today - its roasting here and I really want to get this sorted, as well as having a pre paid groupon deal for a recharge and antibac treatment that only has a couple of weeks left

VCDS reorts the same defect after clearing codes, the only difference being the reset counter.

IDE00198-ENG100282 (Refrigerant Pressure) Now Reports as 0 bar
IDE00976 (Left Front Vent Temp) Still Reports as 85 degrees c

So any suggestions that anyone has would be very welcome. Im gutted that this has cast a cloud over buying the VRS, always wanted one... I seem jinxed with Octavias.

Fix the shorted vent temp sensor connection.
Check the actual PSI of system with gage set and make sure you removed the protective seal plug from the sensor you installed or that the Schrader isn't faulty.
Most important for FOD is are the correct respective part numbers installed and based on PR-codes and VIN #?
