Mirror Dip is simply a matter of setting Bits 1, 2 & 3 on Byte 4 on the module @ hex52 - I've also include the Driver's door module below to show the difference

BUT - and there is always a but!! Whether the mirror dip works correctly is really a matter of whether the passenger door control module is fitted with a memory module (not all passenger modules have a memory facility). The memory module is needed to capture the X/Y coordinates for the return position. Without the memory facility, the function will either not work, or the return position will be different.

Here's the process for determining whether the memory facility is fitted to your passenger control module:

  1. Go to the passenger side mirror module @ address hex52 and select Advanced Measuring values
  2. Either enter the word "mirror" into the dialogue box at the top of the list, or scroll-down to the "mirror" section.
  3. Place ticks in the 4 x boxes as shown on the RHS of my screen-shot below.

If your passenger side mirror assembly has a memory module, VCDS should report as per the values on the LHS picture. The values for X/Y coordinates might be different (these depend on the stored axial position of the mirror in the module - it's the return position, I think), but they must not be 255% and you must have the lower two values as shown below

I suspect that like me, you are puzzled as to why the X/Y coordinates report a value of 255% - well......... if you think in binary this number makes sense: it's the maximum number (in decimal speak) that can be stored in a 8 x Bit memory location (i.e. 1111 1111)!

Some folk have been able to get this facility to work (of a fashion) without the memory module, but the return position has not always been stable.

PS: I also assume that you are aware that the mirror doesn't return to the "normal" position when using this facility until the car travels in the forward direction beyond a set speed (default is 10 km/hr)
