I got a "Defroster flap positioning motor (v107)" error.

I believe that I can hear the "Defroster flap" and the "Air recirculation flap" moving.

However, the "Defroster flap", is stuck at 33. And all other parameters are 0!

The Air recirculation flap is blank!

I did the "flap alignment" but the error is persistent.

Please help :)

Where is located the "Defroster flap positioning motor (v107)" on a Golf mk5?

I believe older platforms (Golf mk4 and Audi A4 B6/7) have it under the glove compartment but I think on the mk5 it under the top vent.

How can I remove the motor and the potentiometer to inspect both?

An image would help please :)

A few days ago I disconnected the battery (and removed it) to clean the battery tray.

Those "0" and "blanks" make me suspect that somehow the HVAC control module got deprogrammed or damaged :|

Vasco
What's doing..........? ;)

Go to WD......... locate V107 and tracks at module .....click on location and picture, further back probe a direct link to tone generator and follow the signal.

I think I found the location of the defroster motor and how to access it.

But, what does this means: Rep. gr. 68.

Repair Group 68. It's a "chapter" in the repair manual that tells you how to do that.

Any idea why the "Specified value", "Min. position" and "Max position" are zero?

And regarding the "air recirculation" I have no value?

A motor malfunction can cause this type of issue?

For future reference I have to explain why I don't get any readings from the "Air recirculation control flap motor V113".

This weekend I dismantled the lower part of the dash to see if I can see the defroster stepper motor (V107).

It is so stuffed inside the dash that I can't even hit it with a hammer.

At the moment I don't have the skills to dismantle an entire dash to reach that motor so I am stuck.

I ordered an used part (with exact same part number).

I am not sure if I will be able to install it but I will try.

Vasco quit dismissing your abilities & take that thing apart to change the servo, just take pictures before you take apart and ref every fastener and part in order, then reverse the operation.

I have faith in you, now go get busy......

Glovebox off and you'll see the flap and motor. No need to dismantle dashboard.

Very very easy and lot's of room when glovebox off :)

I have plenty of motors as spares from my previous "projects". If you would be closer I would give them pro bono :)

Hi,

I am almost sure that the defroster is located under the glovebox in Audi A4 B6/B7, Golf MK4 and similar age platforms which is easier to replace (from my point of view).

In MK5 (Golf / Jetta) it is located on the driver side... which is stuffed with stuff :D

If I have time this weekend I'll try to make some progress and I'll post results.

Most of my problems is not having a backup car to use when this is under repair...

That is, I already successfully dismasted the bottom part of the dash to see if can see the stepper.

But then I needed the car again so I reassembled everything.

Now, as I already know how to dismantle the bottom part I can do it rapidly, so this weekend I'll try to figure out how to access the stepper.

So this weekend I will rapidly dismantle the bottom dash to try to dismantle the air duct, can gateway and a metal frame.

As most of the parts I am removing are not need for using the car I can leave it dismantled so when I have time again the job will be faster.

Now imagine this type of process if you're replacing a steering rack (because it is leaking but does not affect the driving) by trial and error.

Why? Because I can be stuck just because I don't have a specific tool. So, I have to assemble everything again, order the tool and repeat the process.

Hey Vasco what kind of access does removing the cluster get you ?
