Owner states he got home,parked, next morning car was dead, no lights on dash, no windows, no accessories, radio, etc. Installed new battery, no change. I've checked fuses under seat and relay box in engine compartment, fuse boxes have power. Bypassed relay next to battery and ac lights up, and pressing button for odometer check turns on dash display, thats it. Tried a complete system scan no communication with any module. looked at a couple of modules under passenger seat and back compartment for water intrusion and all is dry. Key seems to be recognized since if the battery is connected it will release the key, remove battery and key locks and cant be removed from ignition. At times when connecting the battery terminal there is an initial current draw [sparking] and the dash lights up momentarily then goes dark. no communication with any module, tried brake light trick+ hazards+ high beams, no comm. Bypassed 15 relay and ac panel comes on but still no comm. Im leaning towards steering lock defective OR diagnostic gateway. Anybody had this problem b4? Just asking before I dig in. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
