HEXNET flashing red

Trying to use the hexnet and prior to using it required an update to program version. I attemted update and no can't get hexnet to work. I plugged into car and left led initially flashes green a few times and then goes to flashing red. i opened vcds and select options and select net and test get message port status k interface not found. try connecting with usb cable and get same message.

Ended up re-downloading new VCDS update and then connecting hexnet to laptop via USB and checking it for update which completed correctly this time. Will attempt to auto scan ailing "11 VW TDI Sport wagon. I already pulled the engine code (P2015) with my actron autoscanner + and have ordered the repair part from dieselgeek.
