Great looking forum and very informative. Keep up the great work everyone. Hopefully I would have the chance to contribute support as well.

I have had my Audi S8 D3 for about 3-months and I am hoping that someone may be able to put me on the right path to sorting a priblem out as follows;

After a day out driving the car I ran a VCDS diagnostic scan and resulted in the P0480 Engine cooling fan 1 malfunction code. This seems logical since the AC is a bit warmer when the car is in traffic / not moving, so missing the fan to cool the condenser makes sense. The car does not overheat at all though with the needle mid scale normal.

I then tried the VCDS engine output tests for the first time on the engine-1 module and both the cooling fan 1 and fan 2 operate when I switch these on via the engine output tests - excellent.

When I tried the VCDS HVAC Convenience systems AC output tests for cooling fan the Radiator cooling fans do not operate. The VCDS data fields read N/A for the fan fields.

The HVAC controller does not have control of the engine [condenser] cooling fan for some reason.

Please suggest what I will need to check since both fans actually operate proving the fan control module and fans work.

Dear All,

Here is the scan from today. Yes I know the cylinder 9 misfire is troubling and I fear an injector is playing up hopefully not a compression issue.

I have the car for 3 months now and have conducted the following already:

Replaced all Plugs (Platinum)
Replaced all Coil packs (Bosch)
Replaced Brake pads (EBC Red Stuff)
Valve cover gaskets L & R (sparkplug wells contained engine oil)
Parking brake actuator Driver side.
Replaced vacuum lines to air filter housing actuators
Checked vacuum system integrity (with hand vacuum pump and gauge)
Replaced Secondary Air Pump
Replaced one of the Secondary Air vacuum control valves
Replaced radiator vent pipes (small ones) with red silicone pipes.
Replaced 3 x Door locks (Soft close feature was not working).
Replaced headlight washer hoses
ongoing work....

Hello All,

Can anyone suggest why the HVAC output test would not activate the radiator fans, yet both fans operate correctly when activated using the engine output tests.

Looking forward to any suggestions on this .
