I have a 2010 Audi S3 and when I had a service a few months ago, my mechanic forgot to reset the SRI. Now, it's recently come up and reminding me I'm due for a service. :banghead:

My issue is that if I just do a plain reset of the SIR, it won't remind me in ~9 months when my service is due, it will remind me in 12 months when it's well past due.

Is there a way that I can reset it to, say 270 days and 11,000 km until the next service instead of the defaults of 365 days and 15,000 km?

The correct way to handle this is to reset it, and then manually tweak the channels that have "distance since" and "time since" to values that reflect how far/long it's been since the car was actually serviced.

I've found the service interval reset (not with VCDS) through the MFD settings as its quicker. I'm on 12 months or 10,000 miles. When I do a reset after a service and I check the info it says 9,200 miles or 372 days. Its a bleeding computer can't it calculate how many days in a year there are 365.25 and why can't it show 10,000 instead of 9,200? ;)

Yes, it is quicker. But doing so will put your car on Fixed (rather than Flexible) intervals. And on newer cars that have Inspection as well as Service counters, it will reset the former, but not the latter.

So does SRI reset with VCDS show the correct number of days 365 as well and the correct mileage 10,000?

You're making unwarranted, over-generalized assumptions as to what is "correct".

Thanks for the info everyone, one last question about this is which SRI reset do I need to do as there are a few options that come up for my instrument cluster - I'm in Australia and we have 12 month / 15,000 km service intervals.

The full list of channels I have to reset in the SRI reset are:

Depends what you want. Do you want Fixed intervals, or Flexible? Is the oil being used of a spec that's appropriate for flexible intervals? At the moment, the care seems to be on Fixed intervals.

Now that I think about it, I probably want to keep on fixed intervals - I don't know that I have the relevant sensors in the engine to measure oil quality etc, and it seems like it has been on fixed intervals to date.

I'm guessing I'll want to go with either Time Based Service Reset (Rest of World & Great Britain) or Fixed Oil Service Reset (Rest of World).

I'd like to say a big thanks for your attention to this - I appreciate the work you've put in for the VW community over the years, I remember back to when you were a member on the GTI-VR6 email mailing list, but that's going back a long way!
