Last Saturday I used VCDS on my friend's MY2002 UK TT for the first time. On two runs [before clear and after clear] I got the same message from VCDS for ECU 17 - Instruments.

However, I was able afterwards to successfully run the SRi Reset to show the adapatation values from the instrument panel.

This would appear to be some strange quirk on that cluster and I can't easily rerun VCDS as that was run on a trip.

HOWEVER, the same message appeared on the next run of VCDS on my A8 - on the Auto Transmission - and I've never seen that in over two years of running VCDS agaianst it.

Unclear. Can you try Release 17.1.3 on the same computer please?

Oh, and please give us the specs for the computer you're using.

Uwe; the runs were on different laptops. TT runs were on an Asus Netbook with AtomZ3735F@1.33GHZ [2GB RAM - W10 32bit - SSD drive]. A8 was run on my IBM T60 with Core Duo T2400@1.83GHz [2GB RAM - W7 32bit - SSD drive].

The A8, was previously run on the same T60 and VCDS version without issue; indeed, this hardware has run various VCDS versions for almost 2 years and I've never seen the message before. I haven't yet rerun with Beta or Prod code.

Will try and run 17.1.3 on my friend's TT.

Thanks - Julian

That should sound obvious, but do the release and the beta right after each other; data obtained on different days and different states of the windows OS isn't as meaningful. Also the current Beta is 17.5.1:

Also if/once you've established the issue, please generate debug 1024 with each version.

I'm not able to rerun VCDS on the Audi TT as the owner is currently 'unavailable'. However, I think I got a debug file for an ECU with the same message on another friend's Skoda [decsribed in my 'other' thread]. Logs and Debug files being sent to Support@.
