Hi All,

as this is international ground, I assume I'm allowed to speak about deactivating Start Stop system for MQB cars.

Everyone is confused as since MY 2020 the normal way via adaptation channel in Unit 19 does not work anymore.

To be more precise, Gateway SW-PartNo 3Q0 907 530 AA was the last one (MY19) where this did work.
MY 2020 cars have Index AC or Index AG where changing this special adaptation channel has no effect anymore.

Comparison:

Golf GTI TCR, MY 2019
Adresse 19: Diagnoseinterface (J533) Labeldatei:| DRV\3Q0-907-530-V1.clb
Teilenummer SW: 3Q0 907 530 AA HW: 3Q0 907 530 C
Bauteil: GW MQB High 442 4368
Revision: -------- Seriennummer: 0009607513

ROD: EV_GatewNF_VW37.rod

Golf GTI, MY 2020
Adresse 19: Diagnoseinterface (J533) Labeldatei:| DRV\3Q0-907-530-V1.clb
Teilenummer SW: 3Q0 907 530 AC HW: 3Q0 907 530 C

ASAM Datensatz: EV_GatewNF 013026
ROD: EV_GatewNF.rod

Now, the super-hackers on german ground talk about that bits and adresses changed for these new Index AC and AG gateways, but do not reveal any further information.

My question is do the ASAM datasets already cover this, or could it be the case that there is some issue with outdated ASAM data for these units and for that reason changing the channel has no effect?

Any clue?

Best Regards,

Since for now there´s no public Flashfile for the GW to AC, we can´t check the possibility on older GW. Maybe Ross-Tech has some Idea. hadez16 talked mayn times about it, but we never see a reliable value or hint. As we never had a MY20 car near our VCDS we can´t check that. Currently the written by him is our only explanation

So the channel accepts and stores the change, but it simply isn't effective?

In that case, I think it's not likely a problem with the ASAM data, but some kind of logic change in the software of this (or another) module.

That wouldn't be a huge surprise, since the regulatory authorities would regard disabling Start/Stop as a type of emissions cheat, and VAG doesn't want to be perceived as allowing such cheats via commonly available software.

Yes, exactly.

We only get little bits of information from the guys who deal with those datasets and software versions every day. Last status was that deactivating Start Stop is still possible with these gateways (no hint from them about how to...) and that adaptation adresses or whatever have changed from Index AA upwards. That is the only information I have.

I’m subscribing to this thread, I’m very interested in solving this with my new Tiguan.

Current state of information is that start stop parameters changed for the new gateways and manipulating the voltage limit does not affect the behavior anymore.
I think it will end with a updates set of parameters for the gateway, that cannot be uploaded with VCDS as we all know ;)

@hadez16:
I saw this discussion at the other site in german, but as my german knowledge is very very poor and I hate machine translation, I didn't comment...

The guys who say they can disable start stop with AC gateways are not telling the full truth. I had a chance to scan the car (Octavia MY2020) before and after the "treatment" and the guy's solution was to downgrade the gateway to Q version. With this downgrade he fixed the start stop issue as well as the drive profile issue reverting back to normal after each start.

I was analysing the datasets of Q and AC gateways grabbed from OD!S and I noticed, that there's nothing at address $1380 (the address where the start stop parameter are set in Q) in the AC gateway. So maybe since AC gateway the start stop behaviour is hardcoded in the gateway software and cannot be changed?

Thank you very much for that interesting piece of information! Should I be happy or sad? Idk.

To my knowledge the driving profile issue does need some additional parameter hacks? I do not know any gateway that comes from factory without that "reset after start" issue (which isn't an issue literally, as intended).

Talking about offsets for parameters goes beyond my horizon unfortunately as I do not have the technical capabilities for this but I definitely understand your point.
Thanks again for sharing!

On briskoda.net some owners of 2020MY Octavias report that Drive Mode "sticks" but others that it resets on every ignition on - seems Gateway SW version may be the key difference...
