Nothing worse than a lie huh?
Jack: Chill out. The OP here is a legitimate RT customer working on a 13 year old car. Does it really matter where his wiring diagrams came from?

-Uwe-

Uwe it wasn't a matter of calling him out, it is a matter of confirming the information is correct for the car and without having to click on a link externally or going on a Easter egg hunt to do it.

There is no VIN number or PR data to help build all verification of data & harder to check on FOD.

When searching through similar data quick in the past & from other auto-scans I didn't find the G201 in my notes, so as aforementioned I mentioned the other PSI sensors & made request for the screenshots.

Now I make up screen shots all the time from stuff on web than altered to make different to try and protect copyright or from old books I have & post to help and you know this is indeed a fact!

Each time I make a consistent request here it is met with apprehension.

Now if someone is going to start running their mouth, A. That it can't be done or B. Saying something I know or believe is false just to try and make me look like I'm arguing, then, fuck emm!

You get upset at me when I argue too much so I try to not do it & I love a good debate!

How about we start over?

OP removed from block.

OP please provide your VIN number & so we can check the microfiche for the proper parts to be correct in your car and build a PR tag to detect FOD?

Please provide the alleged screen shot here & as I asked you before & are making ref too, this way to cross check the data and because you got said data from questionable sources and not ERWIN?

Why am I catching shit for actually trying to help someone within the boundaries of the RT Church?

I'm scratching my head wondering what the sense is in hiding the VIN on such an old car. I kinda understand doing that with a brand-new car that's still under warranty, especially if someone is tweaking or tuning it. But on a car this old, with almost 190,000 miles on it?

Fear of title scams. But given that this is a specialty forum and therefore not well-travelled compared to most of the internet...

VIN: WAUKH74F86N124065

And since Jack wants to reset, let's reset. Uwe, you made a great point about the wiring diagrams being intellectual property, so in the interest of trying to stay within Fair Use guidelines, here are screenshots of the two relevant pages. Jack, please note on page 2, at the bottom of item 12, that the G201 sensor is integrated.

And here is every PR code for my car straight from an Audi dealer's service center, including PR codes that aren't included on the vehicle sticker. Nothing has been retrofitted to my car, no mods have been made. All replacement parts have been either factory original (new or from junkyard cars) or from brands sold by WorldPAC or ECS Tuning. My ABS module is the factory original part, as are all braking components other than wear parts (obviously) and the brake pedal switch.

Forgiven .........

Hey look what I found ..........on the net too!

Thank you for posting the screen shot my new friend now that we understand each other and you recognize my asshole ways!

This is the component finder not the WD but yes the part is in the ABS manifold.

Just because something is part of something and the dealer doesn't offer in RTFB & yes being very vague at times or not as a spare part & to force sell the unit, doesn't mean it can be tested, observed or sourced elsewhere!

The forum to me is about learning & sharing but not one sided inputs and most of all I want people to work safe!

That safety starts with qualifying that at the very least, the information you are reading is actually consistent to the platform!

Now that it looks like you're done with edits...

Any idea if any of those outputs are the G201 pressure sensor? If so, how do I test it, especially given that it is a rare intermittent failure (and not always from a cold start)? Please understand, while I work in a technical field (wireless telecom) and have a background in computer tech support, my knowledge of electrical engineering is rather lacking, so I need "idiot" instructions.

I do have my junkyard module that I can perform initial experiments on.

I don't give instructions typically, I simply ask questions that you can surmise with your own tests and answers by using your own determinations, right?

How about benching it and hooking up on K line/CAN etc. and seeing what is needed for inputs to power up on bench & to establish a reading and DTC list to vacate it with decade box for mere statics using VCDS?

You have a used unit and pigtail right?

Since you want instructions and the part is a combined component as per RTFB, I would say do a repair as per the RTFB & that comports with a qualified repair, however, before doing so, double check it isn't a recall or open campaign & for a free repair & if not; at least report that you have experienced a problem to the US Government & so if there is a campaign later, you can get reimbursed, right?

I have a used spare unit, I do not have a pigtail. I also do not know anything about how the CANBUS or K-Line communications protocols work, nor do I believe I have all the necessary diagnostics tools to simulate it. I also don't have a decade box, though that seems like the easiest component to acquire. All in all, it seems like this level of diagnosis is beyond my abilities/capabilities.

There also does not appear to be an active recall, investigation, or even complaint registered about this particular issue. Brake complaints seem to revolve around the parking brake switch or parking brake control module (located in the trunk), not the ABS module. I'll register a complaint once I can verify a repair solution.

I guess I'm back to swapping the module... again.

I'll register a complaint once I can verify a repair solution.

I guess I'm back to swapping the module... again.

You sure about that and someone has to start someplace even if the first. no?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure. I just finished reading through all 63 complains associated with my VIN number's model. (I was particularly amused by the person who "parked" their vehicle, left it in drive, didn't use the parking brake, turned off the ignition, then had the thing roll over their foot because they didn't engage any mechanism by which to keep it from rolling.)

If you know something I don't, please share.

OK, update time.

I finally found the time to install my junkyard ABS module today, only to find out it is for front-wheel drive, not all-wheel drive. (K suffix is apparently FWD, L suffix is apparently AWD). Didn't find out until I had finished installing, bleeding, etc., and turned the car back on to start testing. Good thing I deliberately ordered 2 more cans of brake fluid than I actually needed.

With that idea dead, I turned my attention to the actual pump half of the module instead. Using Jack's reference photo from page 6, I'm assuming the black thing with (4) electrical contacts on it is the pressure sensor, and the two blade terminals below it are the power to the actual pump inside the unit. I pulled apart both ABS modules and compared them, and aside from the part number stamped into the top of the pump, they appear identical. I believe the only actual difference between them is in the control module, possibly even just the software on the control module.

So, armed with that hope, I swapped out the pump module. I used the junkyard (K suffix) pump with my original (L suffix) control module and re-assembled once again. I have just come back from my final testing, a road test, and it appears to be functioning properly.

Now I wait to see if the 01435 error comes back.

Related, but different platform:

I had a mechanical fault in my MK5 Golf based Touran ABS.

They have a "Block" number engraved into the alloy block, denoting the type it is. I too swapped a 4WD module onto a 2WD block, as they used the same block number.

Glad it worked for you, as it did for me! I guess there's no particular reason whey the mechanics should be different, but you wonder why they didn't just use the same electronics and code it differently... I guess there is an extra 3 cents of diaodes and IC chips in there ;)

The error came back today, though it took much longer than it previously would. I'm going to continue to monitor and see if it comes back a second time, just in case this was a "pending" code from before I performed my repairs.

Not a fluke, code returned a second time. Now I'm back to sourcing a replacement control module - the pump unit was probably fine.

So... last Friday I went to my local Audi dealership just to find out how much a module would cost, with and without installation. Expensive is the answer. But while I was there, I went ahead and replaced my crappy AAA Auto flooded-cell battery with a proper Audi (Varta) AGM battery. Since doing so, I have not seen this error come back.

I'm still monitoring, but it has been a week so far.

... nevermind. It seems to have only reduced the frequency at which this error occurs. But it does have me wondering about my electrical system. I think I'm going to take a closer look at my alternator and voltage regulator next. It's going to take me a bit to save up for a new ABS pump anyway, and I might as well have Audi install it since it's a different part number now, and they can't/won't share the coding required for my vehicle.
