Hello I have an Audi A3 2005. I have just done a seat swap with an Audi S3. The new seats don't have the seat belt sensors. Which means I have two plugs left over. The air bag has come on with the following error code

00591 - Seat Belt Switch, Driver (E24)
007 - Short to Ground - MIL ON
00592 - Seat Belt Switch, Passenger (E25)
007 - Short to Ground - MIL ON

This will not clear, I have tried to disable the seat belt warning, but no difference. Not sure if I have done it right.
I also tried cutting the plug and putting a resistor but no luck. Any ideas? Mot coming up in a week, panic station over here.

Are you sure it's a 2005? You've previously posted scans from a 2004.

Assuming this is the same car you've previously posted scans from, what do you have in MVB 003.3 and 003.4?

What resistor value did you try?

Hello thanks for the reply. Yeah 2005, this is a new to me car. I don't know, what does that indicate? The resistor I got at maplin I think is a Half watt, 4.7 ohms.

Ok, please post an Auto-Scan so we can see exactly what airbag module you've got there.

Ok will do tomorrow. What other resistor should I try? So I assume the belt switch only goes though the small 2 wire connector?

I don't know what the resistance values are in those switches. Assuming the 2005 has the same airbag modules as the 2004 I looked up based on the scan from the previous car, the MVB's I pointed you at should have data such as "took high" or "too low". Another approach you might take is to measure what's going on with the switches in the old seats, assuming of course that you still have them.

So I assume the belt switch only goes though the small 2 wire connector?
Off-the-cuff, I would think so, but I do not have wiring diagrams for your car handy to verify.

Thanks for the help all sorted. Bought lots of resistors, trial and error until it said Belt/Yes.
