mk6 xenon retrofit

Hi guys,

I have been working on this for a bit, but I cant seem to get the shutter to activate for main beam, all parts were supplied to me in a package so im presuming they are all correct. the shutter will operate when I have no lights on (but only flashing dip beam) is this due to a coding issue!?

Unless I'm missing something in that scan, your car doesn't seem to be aware it has xenons. What parts were in this "package"?

Hi Uwe, there was 2 bi-xenon headlights, a central electronics control module and 2 headlight looms with the prewired pins for the shutters?!
The xenons work fine with no bulb warning lights, I just can't get the shutters to operate main beam??

Paul,

Please see the Xenon Headlight Retrofitting Policy specific section on our Wiki page. No doubt, you have a 087-?? BCM that appears to support the additional load of Xenon lights and the signals for shutters - but you do not have a 55-Xenon range controller and I'm assuming you couldn't have the level sensor(s) either because those would be wired to 55.

In conclusion we cannot assist with the Xenon retrofit part but 09-BCM is complaining about address 20-High Beam assist (a fancy rear view mirror that communicates under #20 diagnostically) and you do not have a #20 installed/retrofitted. Providing the original coding you are working from was prior to modifications Byte 11, High Beam Assist Installed, shouldn't be enabled.

It is nearly impossible to build coding from scratch so rather than tweaking any more individual bits ... see the Replacement section on this page and copy/paste the entire LC sting from the original BCM directly into the new one. That will baseline the normal functions and you can tweak the bits related to the headlights from that point.

I see a few issues here:

2a) this doesn't look good:

That usually means that the control module is missing firmware/software. It is entirely possible that this needs to be resolved online via SVM - but that won't be possible unless this in an official Xenon retrofit on the dealer level. At some point you may want to locate a good used module f that doesn't clear after coding/configuration.

2b) This may be related to the wiring to/from that 55 module

If the power and/or ground aren't per factory design I would resolve that first. The most common mistake we see is specifically related to the power side, for example using a switched power source fuse instead of the proper 55 module fuse. Another possibility is the power/ground to the slave power output stage/headlights because most Mk6 vehicles use separate and specific fuses for the left and right lights. If you haven't already done so grab the factory level wiring diagram for this system and double check those locations.

2c) 55 isn't coded (as you know) and that is the most challenging part with these Long Coded controllers. Were you able to baseline any factory installed Xenon scans from your market? It is a lot easier to start with something close and tweak the coding.

Xenons in a NAR market Jetta are pretty rare and ours would contain different hardware inside the lights in addition to coding variations in Bytes 3 and 6.

Edit: You may want to try 081200000B000000 with non zero WSC/Importer/Equipment numbers.

3) Address 09: Cent. Elect. (J519) is packed full of faults but most of those are flagged Intermittent. After you confirm the wiring and power to those lights please clear all faults and post another scan so we can see which ones reoccur immediately. On that note - I didn't go through each Byte/Bit from the VW Vortex scan but let us know how you initially coded the newest BCM and if you have the original scan it would be very helpful.

Hello Dana, thanks for your effort; here below you will find the full scan when I upgrade my CECM from 5K0937087R to 5K0937087R-ZGT as per ETKA supporting LED front headlight and tail light and LED licence plate which is matching my car specs. after I install the new CECM without coding led lights front rear licence working very fine without faults at all, what I did run high-beam, and as you know wipe will not work and some other things... I tried to figure out fut within second my everything are change and come back like before.... before i do any change i get full auto scan as per Ross-Tech instruction and below for your review and instruction Dana...

I have also done the same retrofit for my 2011 Jetta S. I have OEM Bi-Xenon headlights and the AFS module installed. when I go to code the AFS module I get an error 22 from VCDS from "coding" as well as from "basic settings". Below is my auto scan.

If that is summary correct please let us know which coding string (if any) was the factory the factory configuration prior to any modifications. We really need to know how you initially coded all of the replacement controllers because these are nearly impossible to build from scratch. The questionable areas I see at this time are 17/2, 24/7, 25/2 and 29/6.

In the meanwhile please post a scan in the current condition after correcting or testing the #1, 2A and 2B suggestions above.

Yeah Uwe. Both verebs1 and husseinayash have that DTC and I have my doubts that a 55 controller with that stored are going to accept coding.

I do not believe the issue is the module as Hussein is able to code his while I am not. The modules are both the same and both came from the same place.

Any idea why I am getting error 22?

What coding and WSC/Importer/Equipment numbers (00000 000 00000) are you entering?

default it is 0s but it recommends to change to 12345 and I click ok and it gives the same error 22

OK, the actual coding you are entering may be considered implausible by this controller so let us know what you were attempting to save.

OK. You cannot perform Basic Settings until the master and sub-system control modules are coded. As mentioned in 2a) this doesn't look good: that No End-of-Line Programming fault may prevent both of you from getting these controllers coded.

Edit: Hussein those links aren't working for me but please post a new in the current condition after correcting or testing the #1, 2A and 2B suggestions.
