Transporter T5 GP retrofit BCM from T6 ==> instrument lighting is fading in and out

Hallo @ all, i retrofitet the BCM from a T6 into a T5 GP.

I changed
- 7H0 937 090 B BCM PQ25 Max4 H74 0712
to
- 7E0 937 090 C BCM PQ25 Max4 H82 0752

Everything is working whell, but the "instrument lighting" is fading in and out when enabled, the Time for the fading can be adjusted by the Light-Intensity-Switch.

Here is the info from the BCM:

Found the Issue.
It looks like the T6 BCM 7E0 937 090 C is not capable of suplying the needed current for the Instrument lighting.
Thats the source of the lighting fading in and out ....

With T5 BCM 7H0 937 090 B the Klemme 58_out from T73b Pin 1 or later T73b Pin 4 had enoth current.
In T6 an aditional Relay J602 is needed, which is controlled by T73 pin 7

The T6 BCM is needed for ACC Retrofit.
But the BCM is the easy Part of it.
ABS, Steering Wheel, Airbag ECU need to be changed, too.
And Component Protection and SWAP need to be solved, too.

Hm, that is impossible

May i ask which exact Year/Month is your Car ?

Bacause ACC was only available @ the T6, which started in Mid 2015.

Lets see i have to work some other things out before i do a howto ...
Happy to wait :)

So basically if you succeed you will Be able to use t6 steering wheel with a cruise control?

Which BCM you trying to fit ? Is it the latest Euro 6?

I already did succeed :)
ACC is successfully retrofittet from the T6, and that needed the T6 Steering-wheel with ACC Buttons.
BCM used is in the scan in my first Post.
But still lot of work to do to make it doable for others ...

Great well done than!

I think Kufatec after some donor T6 to try retrofitting ACC and start stop function for 900. euros, but it is in Germany

Honestly all the lorries I driving has ACC and they causing issues all the time especially in bad wether and heavy rain. Sensors need regular cleaning.
I wondering what is your experience? Where are the sensors fitted?

The other hand I love the idea to use cruise control from the steering wheel.

Just an out of topic question. You might know the answer. With an upgraded BCM the adaptation of the EURO 6 engine and ECU would be possible?

Just in the Front like in the T6.

Hi Dennis,

Happy Easter :)

I am just curious. Did you follow the instruction on this link http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Jetta_(16)_Body_Control_Module. to replace your BCM?

Happy Easter, too.

There is a good explanation in some Polo Forum: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/diy-...lo-diy-upgrading-bcm-body-control-module.html
In general you need to copy Coding and Adaption Channels from 09,19,61
And then figure out the stuff that is not working after that.
Took me 3 Month to get "high beam" working after the change, but mostly because i was to lazy to debug this issue.
My Used T6 BCM was from a T6 with Automatic high beam, and i had to disable this in Adaption-Channel ....

Thank you I will look into that link.

So basically finding a suitable BCM is the key here. Am I right?
I have a Caravelle so I should find one BCM from a Caravelle or Is it not really matters at all?

I saw different BCM's from a T6 with different software numbers. I red a post on the Polo forum where a Guy fitted a 7E0937090D BCM on his 2013 T5GP, but lost the post so I have to search it again.

I can see yours off of an earlier model. I am not really up to ACC because I found them annoying, but really love to have CC on my steering wheel

Whell you wont to have a 7E0 937 090 C or D, that is the one with maximum potential for the Future.
I am not shure what the difference are between [no Ending], A,B,C,D, in general, higher Letter means newer.
I know that support for Electric Tailgate was introduced with C

Regarding CCS on Steering, wheel, having the T6 BCM is only first Part of it.
This only will work after patching the ECU Firmware.
I can help with patching, but you need to be able to read and write the Firmware, VCDS is not able to do this.
Only expensive chiptuner Tools can do this.

My one has the button on the inside of the tailgate trim and on the remote, but never worked and my BCM is 087H

I thought replacing and maybe rewiring the stalk would do the job if the new steering wheel installed.
What a shame. Thank you for your offer to help. Is the ECU patch might need later on if I wish to retrofit other extras or it only needed for a CCS?

You mean I need something like Kess machines? I might consider buy one if I need later to do other mods.

Could you please tell me what options I have regarding firmware read/write tools?

I am using VCP with EDC17 Boot Plugin, but this needs opening the ECU.
I know that "PCM Flash" can read/write via OBD, did not try it ....
Galetto 4 works, too.
Kess did not work in my test, but probably my bad ...

Electric Tailgate was introduced in 2016 or 2017 as an 600 Euro Option in the T6.

The Button on the Inside in the T5 GP does only the Unlock.
The Button in the remote is useless i think.
