I am trying to disable the DRLs but unlike my Mk5 Rabbit where there was a bit you could uncheck in the 09-Cent. Elect. controller, I don't see that here. Is there any way of doing it on the new Mk7s?
I also noticed, when looking through the 17-Instruments controller that Byte 4, Bit 7 is checked (AWD installed) and this is not a awd car. Is there a reason that would be checked?
nacg8or: Hello. Yes, as you have already observed, the lighting stuff on a mk7 is managed very differently to your mk5!. In your mk7, these facilities are still controlled by the 09-Cent. Elect. module (this forum tends to use the term for this controller), but instead of using the Byte/Bits in the coding string, the swiches have been embedded into the module's adaptation channels. In fact, if you look at the admaps for the control modules on your mk7, you will be impressed by the total number of adaption channels that the car has - it's about 3,500 in my modestly equipped mk7!
So, back to your question. If you just want to disable the DLRs (incidentally, you should check that doing this is legal in your local area before making the alteration), then try the following:
1. Select
09 - Central Elect control module
2. Select
Security Access - 16 from the "Open Controller" screen
3. Enter the magic number
31347 and return to the "Open Controller" screen
4. Select
Adaptation - 10 from the "Open Controller" screen
5. Enter
ENG115833 into the search box and from the pull-down button select
IDE06864-ENG115833-Daytime running lights-Fahrlicht bei Tag
6. Change setting to
not active (see picture below),

PS: The tweak instructions above will permanently remove DRLs. Another, perhaps more elegant method of doing something similar is to enable a DRL switch on the MENU screen that allows the driver to choose which mode to use (i.e. DRL-on, of DRL-off). If you prefer this alternative, then see the instructions
