Hi,

I am attempting to install an Audi OEM XM Radio module that I bought off eBay. I get the error code "0144 Control Module Incorrectly Coded 000— —". Also, "Fault Status 01100000. Priority 5". And "No Internal Module Malfunction".

This has happened with 2 separate modules. I can find no reference for recoding an XM module. Nor a VCDS Equipment number for the XM module. So I don't know how address the module directly.

Can someone help me recode? I am using a Hex-Net.

Thank you,

James

PS I saw an Audi factory bulletin about 6 weeks ago online for installing an XM module. It did say something about recoding and I remember the number "99", I think. However I cannot find this bulletin now.

We're gonna need to see a full scan from your car with the XM radio installed in order to have much chance of giving you the help you need.

Really? Hmm, apparently that can't be done with a Mac, right? I don't know anyone who has a Windows machine anymore. I'll ask around.

VCDS Mobile has an Auto-Scan function.

Just as I posted my previous comment I realized I was an idiot. Duh, I didn't think to use my MacBook instead of the iPhone. I am auto scanning as i write this. Hmm found a new error. "Bank 1: Camshaft A (Intake)
P0011 - 004 - Retard Setpoint not Reached (Over-Advanced) - Intermittent"
What the heck is that?

I'll post the whole auto scan in a few. Why did you mention in another thread that you wanted 2 scans?

I asked for two scans from people with Windows PCs who could run the 'classic' version of VCDS for Windows -- we've been having some issues with that.

Edit/PS: Since you're installing an XM radio in a car that didn't have one to begin with, this belongs in the retrofits section, not "Car Repair", so I'm moving it.

Well the auto scan seems to be stuck "trying Address 65". It's spent about 10 minutes at it.

This is what I have so far:

10 minutes is too WAY too long. The above should be enough to figure out coding for your radio.

What CodeBlock version are you running? It would be shown in the results if it had finished, but you can see it on the About screen.

Try changing the Coding in 56-Radio from:

0610122

to:

0614122

... and let us know the results. That should tell it that it has Satellite radio. The 0F module itself doesn't seem to need or support Coding.

Thanks Andy. I'll give it a try later or tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I removed the XM module and I got the same error code. Or, in other words, there was no change. So that supports your suggestion.

However, the Symphony head unit acknowledges the SAT radio, and I can get the preview channel. When I have tried to activate the module (through SiriusXM) it attempts to load the channels, but then goes back to the preview. So would the head unit keep the XM module from activating? I would have thought that was something that had something to do with the XM module or Sirius XM alone.

Anyway, I'll give it a try.

That 56-Radio isn't coded for Satellite Radio. Did you try changing the coding to 0650122 yet?

So wait, do I want to change it to 0614122 as Andy suggests. Or 0650122 as Dana suggests?

(the real problem with testing this that I have to call SiriusXM to try and get them to activate it. They are in the Philippines).

Also, I am still puzzled as to how coding the head will allow the XM module to fully activate with SiriusXM. But, again, I'll test it and see.

I'm with Dana. I think Andy got dyslexic on which digit needs the 4 added to its present value.

Don't you need to read off some code from the radio's display to give to Sirius/XM to activate the received?
