    Yeah it could be, but I don't know where that displayed info is coming from. The MVB Uwe asked about shows the VIN correctly in all 3 controllers.

    Had a look in controller 25 advanced ID and sure enough the chassis number is stored as YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

    I wonder how I can fix that one!

    I got lucky with mine in the end and put the old instrument cluster back in and it ended up being fine for 8 months before I sold the car on. Still have the cluster I bought knocking around here which I never got around to working. No cheap fix... now I just have the mothers A3 which the power steering has decided to pack up on so need to get underneath and see what I can do! .
