When modules cannot be reached in a scan my default thought is to run an Optical Bus Diagnostic providing there isn't anther obvious reason.
The majority of the diagnostics I've done have been on C6 and D3 and later, so it's almost automatic for me.

Forgetting it's not ubiquitous, people respond "Uh... my car doesn't have that" when I've suggested running the procedure. <facepalm>

Is there a way to determine MOST presence in a vehicle without physically looking or checking erWin ?
The only pattern I've been able to determine is if Nav has an optical performance setting, and possibly the presence of 07 Control Head.

Appreciate any input.

Hi,

Here is a 'basic' list of the VAG vehicles that may have a Fiber Optic BUS installed.

- - Also looking at the Measuring Value Blocks(MVB) in the [19-CAN Gateway] controller for any reference to 'MOST-Databus' will be useful, for example the MVB-Group [002] in the Audi A6 (4F) .

Audi -
2011 --> Audi A1
2013 --> Audi A3
2008 --> Audi A4
2008 --> Audi A5
2005 --> Audi A6
2011 --> Audi A7
2003 --> Audi A8
2012 --> Audi Q3
2009 --> Audi Q5
2007 --> Audi Q7

Volkswagen -
2014 --> e-Golf
2013 --> Golf
2011 --> Touareg

Hope this helps,

drpeter
