Looking for some help with my recent Xenon retrofit onto my JSW. Everything is working great except for the LED DRL's on the headlights. I've tried numerous byte 18 setups and the only functionality I can get out of the LED DRL's is using:

HEX 04 (L/H side lights up but turns off when engine is started)
HEX 20 (Both light up but turn off when engine starts)
HEX 21 (Both light up but turn off when engine is started)

I also installed OEM fog lights wired to the CECM which work great along with a euro switch. AFS is installed as well and functions fine as you can see in my scan below. I used the wiring diagram posted HERE as well as many other posts on the web. My initial guess is that this is a wiring issue but I wanted to eliminate coding before I mess with my harness. Continuity is good according to the diagram, but I've read that certain wires for the DRL going to the 14 pin plugs may not be the same if the car diddnt have rear fogs? Any help is appreciated.

i don't know if this applies to your case but for the rear fog light hella bcm:
trigger wire from switch pin #7 to black cecm pin# 17
move wire from black cecm pin #28 to brown cecm pin #47
move wire from brown cecm pin #47 to black cecm pin #28
code byte 18 to 04

now since your are using continental bcm byte 18 will probably be different
do you have rear led or no?
no rear led try: 42, 43, 45, 4D, 4F, 65, 76
rear led try: 69, A0

if the wires are ok then it's just coding or lucky guess byte 18 :D


this is something i found may be worth testing

bit 0 Alternative voltage supply for high beam and T58d (button illumination)
bit 1
bit 2 Cornering lights as DRL and LED DRL off - xenon only
bit 3 Low beam as DRL and LED DRL off - xenon only
bit 4 LED DRL off with handbrake on - xenon only
bit 5
bit 6 DRL active
bit 7 LED DRL off unilateral with indicator on - xenon only

Byte 23 bit 6 probably disables DRL competely, also in Auto mode.

Tried the wire swap and the byte 18 codes. 04 now has both DRL LED lit but they shut off when I start the car. 45 worked the best. It lit the LED DRL but they constantly flicker when I start the car.
As far as byte 23, on my long coder it has different nomenclature for the bits you listed. Maybe you meant a different byte?
I changed my byte 18 back to 09 (NAR JSW) and now my windows will only roll down from the driver master panel. Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

weird, when you start car do you have any error for bulb out? did you try with handbrake released? does your fog light work and rear lights? try 41
sometimes bcm can be pain in the a##, for windows copy your coding from bcm 09 and manually fill all zeros 00 in all field press ok, close coding, cycle key, dont worry car will be pretty pissed at you :D, paste coding to bcm and clear errors, it seems that sometimes it gets "stuck"

So I gave it a try. No luck. Still cant operate the windows in any position except for the driver door. Still haven't found a code that works with the LED DRL. I verified my wiring and it all seems kosher. On the 14 pin headlight plugs i checked my grounds on pins 5 and 7. I checked that pin 12 goes to the CECM black plug pin (pin 6 for the LH side DRL and pin 28 on the RH side). I'm now questioning if my highline cecm is compatible with the LED's. From all my research on the retrofit it should be good to go. It has a high level software as well. Another question I have is about the euroswitch. Does the trigger wire need to be installed for the parking light?(PIN 19 on the black CECM connector) The only trigger wire I installed was for the fog light.

for euroswitch you need to run a wire from euro switch pin #3 to bcm black connector pin #19, after that post a scan, so we can try to fix this

So I just have to find the correct byte 18 at this point. I added a jumper wire between T52a/28 and T52c/47 and nothing changed. My wiring is exactly as show in the post above. My byte 18 hex is set to 04 at the moment and the LED's shut off when I start the car. I also checked and there is a trigger wire between pin 7 euro switch and pin 19 at T52a.

since you added AFS, you can add 2 more wires for full drl functions
not not T52a/28 and T52c/47 but if you want just to run drl led on full brightness, on each headlight left and right, pins 10 and 12 so it will be connected

left headlight
pin#10 and pin#12-> bcm beige pin#26

right headlight
pin#10 and pin#12-> bcm black pin#44
and you can try 04, but for this hack you didn't even need to change byte 18

or just run 2 more wires and find correct byte 18 and have OEM lights

So my retrofit has been completely OEM. I even made my own harnesses. I did not use any adapters, I de-pinned my 10 pin plugs at the headlights and bought new 14 pin connectors and wired them up to the car. My goal is to complete this as it should be if at all possible. This is why I havent jumpered pin 10 and 12 on the 14 pin plugs. When you say "just run 2 more wires and find correct byte 18 and have OEM lights" which two wires are you talking about? Its my understanding, now that I found the factory wiring diagram for the HID setup, that my car is wired correctly.

Another intention of this post was to get this information out there and documented for others. Theres a lot of other posts that are similar, but none of their solutions have worked for me. Ill try to post a new autoscan soon. I really like using HEX 04 so far as it leaves me with no lighting fault codes and my backup sensors work. The only problems have been my windows rolling down and the LED DRL issue.

de-pinning 10 pin plugs at the headlights and pinning new 14 pin connectors can be done easily and it leaves clean installation but you need to check halogen installation
did you have pin4 on halogen lights? if yes move it to pin12, if no you need to run 2 wires, one for each headlight
pin 8 can be moved and re crimped to pin11 but you have to move from bcm to other position to operate solenoids for high beam or it can be moved to pin12 for drl but you will need to run wire for solenoids for high beams
in the end it depends on halogen instalation and how do you want to run it
also can wires need to be connected from AFS to headlights

HEX 04 is ok if you have hella bcm, but you have newer 5K0 which is made by Continental and 04 is not ideal for this bcm and wiring

The mod is done except for coding byte 18. The AFS works great without errors. I followed the factory wiring diagrams out of eRwin. My BEFORE MOD wiring and AFTER MOD wiring is posted below:

Is it possible my side markers being standard halogen bulbs is causing some of my problems? Looking at the wiring diagram the sidemarkers connect to the wires going to pin 10 on the original 10 pin headlight plugs. This pin now connects to an LED control module within the new HID headlight housing. Maybe the LED control module is confused with the different type of bulb?

if you take a look right headlight pin #12 to T52a/28 and T52c/47 so my guess is it that only T52a/6 is used for pin12 headlight, because T52c/47 - Left rear fog light bulb -L46-

So my wiring is setup like that diagram, except my marker lights are spliced into the wire going to pin 12 on the 14 pin connectors. This is due to the factory setup used with halogen headlights. These side markers are also standard bulbs.

As far as the T52c/47 going to pin 12, why is the diagram showing this? Is it an error? It seems it diddnt change anything on my car when I added the splice.
