Hi

Friend asked if it is possible to change his current 1K0920860K(4a) to 1k0920874A(4c). Because 4a full mfd petrol clusters are expensive and hard to get.

Im guessing immo adaption with ecu and key adaption with precoded component security. Altough on RT wiki there is told that 4c isn't suported, but will the procedure be the same if skc is known. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer_IV_Immobilizer_Swapping_(Instrument_Cluster)

Don't have autoscan, friend lives too far to drive just for autoscan.

Perhaps you must have new keys(transponders)

no,
old KEY will work
I'm not sure, every time when I was doing it I must programing new keys(skoda octavia PQ35) because not all keys is "dealer keys" which need new instruments cluster immo for right work without immo off

How unlucky i am. :(

I had 863b cluster, that is visteon(starting to hate this), and new cluster is VDO, with part nr 873b. Was hoping when 863b was immo4 than 873b would also be.
VDO and visteon immo is different. Sent my ecu, keys and new cluster to Poland to spacewalker. Unfortunately also he was not able to do the immo.
Changed some data in new cluster and told that i have to go to VW for matching.

I have also learned that there are two sorts of 863b cluster, 1 from visteon(immo4 or immo4a) and immo4c. Regular immo(immo4) manufacturer is visteon and 863b with 4c is VDO.

Well at least money wasn't spent on nothing. Result from spacewalker:

There might be a chance for me. Spacewalker told me this morning, that he maybe got it working, so i don't have to go to VW.
Lets see. Results should come at evening time(my local timezone evening ;) )

Cluster and ECU installed, battery charged(it died because of waiting) and a happy me :D

Anyways, don't know exactly what user spacewalker did, but at first he said OK, afterr that he said i have to go to VW and on the morning of shipping he said that cluster works.
And it does. In my case the problem was that old cluster was visteon and new VDO, so immo-data transfer wasn't possible and progress of some sort of adaption had to be made.

All thanks goes to user spacewalker, Ross-Tech wasn't very helpful. Although i understand that immo4c isn't something that is possible for everyone i was hoping to know how immo4c works compered to immo3 and 4. How adapting brand new cluster works and so on. Even though people don't have access to pin codes and people who have usually have, have also access to other tools that can be used to make the adaption, i would like to know what does dealer computer(VAS or ODIS) does to adapt the cluster, when working on brand new cluster.

Is not a VCDS problem
Is a security problem , VW still making it better and stronger

There is no perfect device "all in one"
Rosstech is the best for diagnostic, coding etc
Other device for immo / security - are much MUCH more expensive, but they are not good as VCDS

Hope you understand

Yeah i do understand that it isn't vcds problem. I was not hoping to achieve it vcds. I was hoping to know how immo4c works. That's all.
But i guess i have to find it out the hard way :lol

And yes, for coding, measurements etc... I think it's the best AND FASTEST device.
