Is it giving you 31 out of range or another error?
I retrofit not because I settled for a car that didn't have everything. I retrofit for the challenge!

Also, will the module let you change the rest of the coding string without changing the model designation?

Ah. One more suggestion. Make sure when you change the coding string, that you have put in a different workshop code and importer value. Sometimes modules won't let the coding change unless you change these values

You may have to change them under the options section of VCDS first. But don't forget to reset VCDS before you try to code other modules or that workshop code and importer value will show up in everything you code from that point forward.

; 1K0-937-084.CLB (Basis - Supports NO Fogs or Xenons)
; 1K0-937-085.CLB (Lowend - Supports NO Fogs or Xenons)
; 1K0-937-086.CLB (Medium - Supports Fogs but NO Xenons)
    ; 1K0-937-087.CLB (Highend - Supports Fogs and/or Xenons)

i believe the same is apllied to 5K0
    5K0 937 086 M this module doesn't support adaptive lights

5M0 907 357 F is for adaptive lights - same one is used for all vw cars, check coding for just rear sensor
did you try to re flash afs module (it will remove coding and also all settings) then fill parameters from zdc?
