    I'm confident that's a P0403 EGR fault.

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

No full autoscan, we can't see vehicle data. If it is EGR module failing, I suggest to check at dealers before starting repair work by Yourself, some 1,6 CR TDI got recall for it. Maybe it is possible to get EGR module replaced free of charge.
P.S. Uwe, how do You decode faults if there is no ROD file? Are there some possibilities to do this in general or You just have some preparations for ROD file for this exact engine, only they are not finished and released yet?

I didn't exactly decode it. But I did look in scans from other 1.6 TDIs that do have ROD files and found that exact (native) fault in a couple of them. It seems to be not at all uncommon.
