Check your PMs.

-Uwe-

Uwe,
Thanks muchly for the software. I've now had the opportunity to poll 03-ABS controller using ver 12.12.0, ver 12.2.2 and Beta ver 14.7.0. Alas, unlike Con's experience, the Adaptation maps for all three SW versions are exactly the same on my Golf. Don't know what this means (perhaps the mk7 is fundamentally different than Con's 2014 Seat Leon, not sure). Anyhow the output from my analysis can be found on the following link (sorry Con):

03-ABS comparison spreadsheet

Seems like that your control module just doesn't have that setting available at all...

My friend's Leon has different ABS control module than your Golf. I don't have any Golfs to be able to get reference scans. D**n!

But I'd still like to know what's the difference between the 12.12.0, 12.12.2 and 14.7.2 Beta in my friend's car? Any ideas? Why the oldest one worked, but two newer didn't?

If needed, I can provide a scan of Golf but it is MY2014. XDS is activated, since this is standard equipment in our country. Though sadly, I didn't check if I can change that setting.

Jeff: Yes I had noticed that the adaptation channels in your Golf had allowed XDS Adjustment. I'm still mystified as to why my my13 model won't allow access to this facility. I'm waiting to see if someone can reply to ConD's request because I suspect (perhaps "hope" is the better word) that my situation can be help by an answer to his problem.

Meanwhile, I have been giving my dilemma some thought and this is my current hypothesis (for what it's worth). I'm hoping that the answer lies in the coding value because I have been able to open-up different adaptation channels (some have called these "hidden menus") when I change bytes in the coding string - see my TMC tweak instructions on VWW. I now have three coding strings for the 03-ABS controller on an MQB platform; Your TDI, My TSI and ConD's Seat 5F. I know that both your TDI and ConD's seat 5F allows access to XDS adjustment, and I know that my TSI will not. So, if I compare the Coding sequences for all three vehicles and I look for byte values that are the same on your TDI and ConD's Seat 5F but are different to the hex value on my TSI, I surmise that these are potential "hidden menu" bytes. I've done this in the chart below and the two interesting bytes are Byte12 (high nibble) & byte 21(low nibble). But I need more sample coding values with known access to the XDS adjustment to confirm my hypothesis. Hopefully if I wait, someone else will post-up their codes thus providing either confirmation of the correct byte, or proof that my approach is wrong! But, I admit that I'm a rank amateur at this stuff, so I proceed with utmost caution - my progress thus far is simply based on logic rather than facts!

I'm happy to hear from more experienced VCDS users if you believe that my hypothesis is flawed

Can you limit to a byte or should you include 'same, same vs different' bits.
Yes there are a LOT more of them.
Is progressive stearing also indicated in the ABS (03) module ?. R-Line has it , does the Seat ?

Jeff: I've checked the Adaptation maps for both the TDI and TSI (for all module addresses) wherever the word "steering" appears and the incidences are the same for both vehicles. I posted-up my Adaptation channels on a previous post. It's here. All instances of the word "steering" in this workbook are shown below. Can you identify which one relates to "progressive steering"?

mtl:I'd like to take you up on your kind offer - please. I'd like to get more info to substantiate (or, not) my hypothesis

Two things that I request:
(1) please provide a copy of the complete coding string for 03- ABS module control on your car (which I hope is MQB platform)
(2) please check the adaptation channels and confirm (or, not) if you have an entry that says something like "Expanded electronic differential lock"

Thanks in advance

mtl: Alas, without confirmation about the adaptation channels, I don't think that the info adds anything to my data set. But thanks for responding and for providing the two coding strings.

Hi, I have the same issue: VCDS 12.12.3 on a 2015 Mk7 GTI VIN 3VW4T7AU0FM002448 will not show XDS options under 03-ABS. Controller channel map:

What happened to this? I did an auto-scan and also scanned the ABS module to create a channel map, would this be useful? My car is one of the early builds Golf MK7 GT and it came with XDS as standard but when I select the option extended electronic differential lock on the adaptation screen it says that the channel is not available or not authorised, something like that. I am driving a rental this week while my car is having its annual service and I did an adaptation and I could select that option on the rental, even though the rental is not a GT so isn't supposed to get the feature but it does. I noticed that lots of modules on the coding screens don't have any options, all the checkboxes have no text... Since this is a 2013 car I'm wondering if Ross Tech will ever manage to create labels for the coding and adaptations? I can submit logs if necessary, just send me a PM asking what specifically you need. Thanks.

Bump! I can't remember what my stock setting was from the factory on my MY16 Golf 1.8t. Anyone care to chime in?

http://forums.ross-tech.com/forumdisplay.php?45-Reference-Scans-and-Maps-of-Non-Broken-Cars - Check here for your specific model. Lots of factory scans here.

On My 2017 Passat I had to turn on XDS in long code before the adaptation channel appeared without error message (shown by the OP) to set “Standard”, “Weak”, “Medium”, “Strong” - So at least for me it was a 2 step process. Take a look to see if that may be the same thing in the golf7
