I am trying to disable the DRLs but unlike my Mk5 Rabbit where there was a bit you could uncheck in the 09-Cent. Elect. controller, I don't see that here. Is there any way of doing it on the new Mk7s?
I also noticed, when looking through the 17-Instruments controller that Byte 4, Bit 7 is checked (AWD installed) and this is not a awd car. Is there a reason that would be checked?

nacg8or: Hello. Yes, as you have already observed, the lighting stuff on a mk7 is managed very differently to your mk5!. In your mk7, these facilities are still controlled by the 09-Cent. Elect. module (this forum tends to use the term BCM for this controller), but instead of using the Byte/Bits in the coding string, the swiches have been embedded into the module's adaptation channels. In fact, if you look at the admaps for the control modules on your mk7, you will be impressed by the total number of adaption channels that the car has - it's about 3,500 in my modestly equipped mk7!

So, back to your question. If you just want to disable the DLRs (incidentally, you should check that doing this is legal in your local area before making the alteration), then try the following:

1. Select 09 - Central Elect control module
2. Select Security Access - 16 from the "Open Controller" screen
3. Enter the magic number 31347 and return to the "Open Controller" screen
4. Select Adaptation - 10 from the "Open Controller" screen
5. Enter ENG115833 into the search box and from the pull-down button select IDE06864-ENG115833-Daytime running lights-Fahrlicht bei Tag
6. Change setting to not active (see picture below),

Don

PS: The tweak instructions above will permanently remove DRLs. Another, perhaps more elegant method of doing something similar is to enable a DRL switch on the MENU screen that allows the driver to choose which mode to use (i.e. DRL-on, of DRL-off). If you prefer this alternative, then see the instructions HERE

Thanks for the info Don. I also looked at the multi function display and noticed you couldn't control DRLs from there either but if there is a way of adding it to the menu, that is great. I did look briefly at the adaptation channels and you need several hours to go through all that. Lol. I will take a look at your suggestions tomorrow and see how that goes.

As far as my post regarding the fog light installation from the other thread, my car is definitely not equipped with a BCM that supports front fog lights. I saw that indicated in the Central Electrics controller, and that is unfortunate. It is odd that you can enable the rear fog light if you have tail lights that have it but you need an upgraded BCM to run front fog lights.

nacg8or: hm............. how did you deduce that the BCM can't accommodate front fog lights? Can you post-up an autoscan please?

Don

I was trying to post a snapshot image of the module for the front fogs not being supported but can't seem to get it to work. At any rate, Byte 7 in the 09 module has no bit 3 check box and the text reads "Front fog lights are NOT supported by this Contol Module".

That said, here is the auto scan.

We will likely publish an update shortly and I've made some additions so that most modules will be covered with that new data version. :) Thanks for reporting this, your feedback is much appreciated.

Sebatian: guten Morgen. A question please - why does the second setting descriptor in my picture (post #2) incorrectly identify "daytime running lights" when this setting applies low-beams as DRLs?

Please double check that with VCDS 16.8.2 or newer once it's out and let us know...

This worked perfectly. My DRLs are disabled but can activate them any time from the multi function display.
I've made a few other changes from info found elsewhere namely the ability to open and close windows via the key fob. I'm still trying to see if I can get the passenger mirror to dip when going in reverse. I'm not sure if this varies between AT and MT cars because the tweaks I've made didn't work but I'll have to check again. Another tweak I need to work on is the hatch pop via the fob. I'm not sure why VW removed the button inside the car to pop the hatch either.

^^^^^ nacg8or: I'm pleased that the tweak was successful- well done.

There are lots of examples on different forums for how to implement the mirror reverse tweak, so I've no doubt that you will easily find these instructions. Just a word of caution though regarding this tweak - it stands to reason that in order for this function to work correctly, the car needs to remember the position of the mirror in the forward direction (so that it returns where it started). The mechanism that the mk7 uses to do this is the inclusion of a memory module in the mirror system. NOT ALL MK7S HAVE THIS MEMORY MODULE! What I understand happens when the memory module isn't installed and the mirror dip tweak is implemented is that it either doesn't work at all, or if it does work, the return position of the mirror isn't correct (i.e. the passenger-side mirror returns to different poitions when the car moves forward).

So, before you implement the tweak, I suggest that you go to the Advanced Measuring Values area for the passenger door control module (@ address hex52) and then tick the boxes shown in the picture below. If the memory module is installed, you should see the values shown on the right-side of the picture (note: the X/Y coordinates might differ - but they shouldn't be "255". However, the last two "Actual" entries must be the same as shown)
