Keithuk: forgive me for my pedant ways, but lots of folk often quote this saying and attribute its originator to Mr H Ford (who was by all counts an interesting man). Fact is that it's a myth! Although it's certainly true that the vast majority of model T cars were indeed black, throughout its production the car was produced in many different colors, including blue, red, green and grey. Some have said that many of these hues were so dark they were hardly discernible from black, and that this is another reason why the myth lives on.

IMO, a far more memorable quote from this interesting but deeply flawed man must surely be his famous observation about self esteem; “My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me"

Again, my apology for intellectualising your post.

12 bottles per change???

That is a beautiful car . . . I would love a car like that, however; I'm grounded in reality (i.e. hauling kids, dogs, work-related gear, etc.) so my JSW TDIs are where its at!!! Maybe retirement will allow a Phaeton . . .

About 13, actually, but it's not as bad as you would think. My Passat V6 takes 6.5 quarts of oil on a fixed 5,000 mile OCI. The Phaeton W12 takes 13 quarts of the exact same type of oil, but it has a fixed 10,000 mile OCI. It works out to the same per-mile cost.

First post as a newbie. Glad to be here. Have had a VCDS cable for several years and just updated to the Hex Can interface from Micro Can and looking forward to the new functionality...

Anyway, here is my latest (albiet my oldest at the time) toy that I have...

Mama has confiscated my NMS TDI Passat so I have a TDI JSW as my daily... Need to get them cleaned up and get pics of all of the family...

We choose our ride depending on the weather and purpose of the trip... :) The T5 California (BiTDI, DSG, 4Motion) is for business and/or camping trips, while the pony ('67 Convertible 289-4V) is mostly pleasure but occasionally I do take it out when I visit customers as well. Great conversation piece!

Yep, they also made the Rialta, but the Eurovan version is easy to parallel park if you ever want to go into town. ;-). It has "everything you need, but nothing you don't."

Full ACK! :D

Saw the California in the most recent (in the States) episode of DriveIt! and really wish they were sold here.

Restoring one is my retirement project.
