hi guy I had a thread a few weeks ago, and need a little if possible, I have had problems with a airbag fault showing on my car, I bought a new airbag ecu, but found out by a forum member that I may have been given a wrong part number from audi, so I have now bought a second hand unit from same car age etc, so I'm sure this is the right one for my car, I now don't have 2 faults I had when fitting the new unit, so I'm quite sure its right, part numbers are all the same, I am show one fault on the air bags and could do with somone pointing me in the right direction to sorting it, also a little help with other fault codes would be a big help, many thanks again guys

Thanks, I've clicked on it, but there's nothing there, like if doing that on another unit, didn't have this fault in first place until, I disconnected each airbag to eliminate each airbag as afault, now can't get rid, thanks for the input again

Guys I really need some help, I'm struggling to clear this fault, a little up date, I have drivers side roof airbag saying too high , I've tried and diffrent roof airbag ( I take roof airbag is curtain airbag) tried that still got the fault, tried a diffrent airbag module still got fault tried taking out the 2 pins at the module connector block and connecting the new air bag direct into 2 pins that are plugged straight into the module block , to see if this will eliminate bad wires running to the rear of the car, but still got fault, can anyone please help me, maybe if someone can point me in the right direction to find the pin read out for the airbag module so I can see if there is possible a diffrent wire that could be damaged somewhere, the 2 wires I have tried are the same 2 wires that are at the rear of the car plugged into the curtain airbag, dose anyone no if these are the only wires that could cause this fault, I'm 100% airbag modules are fine and same on the 2 curtain airbags I have , please can someone help me, I just don't no what to do now, thanks

If You could provide VIN of Your car, probably someone could trace down original equipment set of Your car and give some advice of airbag module coding.

I've got the original module from the car part number ( 8p0 959 655p)
Chassis number thought it was on the scan (
VIN: WAUZZZ8P79A079027 )
I'm total stuffed with it, could coding it make a difference to a fault head airbag, ,,what dose it mean when it says too high and not too low,
I'll put another scan up tomorrow , it would complete tonight for some reason, got stuck loading last or end of scan so couldn't complete so I could put fresh atoms scan up

A ressistance high means that a airbag module (not the ECU it self) has a internalfault. Please remove the airbag that is suspected of beeing faulty and place a 2.2ohms resistor, deleted all the dtc and recheck.

Please, do know, if you dont know what you are doing with airbag's you can get your self killed!

If the DTC reapears then disconnect the suspect airbag connector and check the resistance measurd by the ECU. It shut be 0. If yes, reconnect and check what it says. It shut be around 2.2ish

Please report findings here

Thanks for reply,
Hi I think I'm referring sometimes to ecu, because I've been told in the past it's an ecu, I've taken the airbag off in question and put a 3ohm resister across , but still had the fault, bought a used airbag and tried that, still faults, so took pins out at module and did the same there both with resistor and airbag, but still got the same fault, so bought another module same part no etc, same faults doing the same as before, leaving me to think there must be some other wire fault other than the.2 wires that go the the airbag in question, so really puzzled , I've disconnected battery when doing all this , thanks

Make the car stock again, old ECU, old airbag module and check in the mvb the resistance. Please post those here

Have you measured resistance from the airbag connector in question to the main airbag module connector? Did you verify the soft coding is the same between the original module and the one you have now?

Last but not least, the airbag connectors are known to have crappy connections on Audi/VW vehicles, leading to high resistance codes. Stabilant will help if that's the case.

Do you mean measure the resistance one the wires with both airbag and module disconnected , I allways thought you could do this this module connected, I've done it with the airbag connected then disconnected and then with a 2.2 ohm resister fitted , but can't find the reading to hand at the moment, think I had resistance high with bag on, 0.4 without bag one and with 2.2 ohm resister something like 3-5 ohm's but not 100% sure on them and if it was a 2.2 ohm 1/2 watt resister, all dome throu vcds I don't have a multi meter to try with out doing it thro vcds, I've never removed the engine bay ecu from the car and I've tired 3 airbag modules 2 with same part number and 1 that is meant to be supper seading to the first 2, I've tired copying the code from the original one from the car but the other 2 will not accept the coding, but I think I'm going to be stuck here, especially with the coding and possibly made a rod for my own back here, but somehow there must be a way around this, when I bought the car, it was left hand drive and had , had a light fire to the loom above the airbag module , so I fitted a second hand wire loom from a 2012 car that had other extra thing to it, only things like sat nav and Bose sounds, but the loom was from a diffrent car, I didn't see much harm in doing this, thinking the only changes would be like the spec of the car I've like the nav Bose and didn't for one minuet think there could be any difference between the airbags, the 2012 had only the same airbags as mine no extra one's , and only 11 months from build dates, I no that isn't the point, so I do not think I have a chance in finding the new loom coding for the airbags, I personally don't mind if the drives side head airbag doesn't work, buy one day I will sell and there's no way I can live with just not telling someone about it, in case they had some sort of accident and the curtain airbag should have gone off and someone was hurt, this just isn't me, I've seen cars with nothing left of them where airbags haven't gone off, but also in the our country the airbag light can not be lit up, and this is the main thing , mine is, is there any way of figuring this out so everything works , could anyone exsplain to me what part of the coding make each car individual to each car, many thanks for your help, I don't mind paying is there was someone close to me to sort this out, but I think everyone on here are over sea's to me, pleas help me out guys, and don't give up on telling me what you think I should try, also would a 3.3 ohm's resister be to high to try their resister in the wiring end of the bag come for, I bought 2 and I'm shore one was 2.2 1/2 watt and other 3.3 1/2 watt resisters, thanks again

Can anyone tell me if the watt part on the resister makes any diffracted, I have no idea, was told 1/4 of a watt but could only get 1/2 watt , thanks

I've found the chassis number from the car the wire loom came from, not sure if anyone would be able to find out airbag module and coding from this car,

Would this help, have I basically made my car now this one, ??

The watt rating of a resistor tells how much heat it can handle without burning out.

A quick way to work out the watt rating you need on a 12V electrical system (i.e. most cars) is to divide 144 by the resistor value in ohms. Provided the resistor watt rating is higher than that number it shouldn't burn out - BUT it may still get hot (hot enough to burn things or people) so take care!

P.S. 144 is 12 squared - the power is calculated by voltage squared divided by resistance.

Do You think he will test airbag system in deployment mode? :D Even 1/8W is enough. Resistance must be correct.
