The Following Words are Too Short, Too Common

"A8", "D3". Seems like it would be a good idea to allow some abbreviations, acronyms, and model designators.

    Thanks,
    Tom

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking for.

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

He's referencing the error you get when you search the forum for TLAs (or shorter).

My apology, but I had to point-out that "(or shorter)" is a kind-of tautology in this case because TLA can mean both Three-Letter-Acronym, or Two-Letter-Acronym and I assume that the look-up forum isn't intended for a OLA -One Letter Acronym (which is itself a kind-of oxymoron)!

To clarify, if it's possible the search should allow commonly-used abbreviations and acronyms to be valid search terms. E.g., "D3" or "4E"; and I'm sure in case the forum disallows 3-character search terms, some other useful search info includes "BFM" (engine designation in my car), "ABS", "TCM", etc..

Thanks for the responses everyone and thanks for the best product support imaginable, Oo-vay!

PS, the "quick work-around" mentioned in the above-referenced thread doesn't seem to apply in my case...

    Try it without the quotes.

vBulletin search has a reputation of being generally sucky. I think I'd rather see us try to replace the search box in the forum with a Google custom search than to fix the broken vBulletin search.
