I have 2001 Passat tdi sport, I had to replace the abs pump... Now I cant bleed the brakes..

I bought the registered version of vcds lite with the hope it will help.

Am not sure if the pump in comuicating with the ecu.

edit: if I run a output test, nothing happens, dash beeps, that's it

I did do a scan and it returned:

Moving to Car Repair Support.

Please tell us exactly what parts you replaced. Just the pump? Is this ABS control module the original one?

In order to know what functions that old ABS system should theoretically support, one would need to have a look at the old repair documentation for these cars, and I don't have that handy at the moment.

I don't suppose you saved and scan data from the old module while you were playing with it? If so, it would be good to post that for comparison purposes.

Something is telling me that this ecu is looking for ESP..........when trolling the kind auto-scans of the world via cross check.

Nope should be ASR........

8E0-614-111AQ and part # is right by legacy.
New controller is 8E0-998-375J

@uwe the scan in first post if from module attached to replacement abs, do you want scan results from replacement abs with original module now attached?

Yes, it would be good to see what the original module was, in order to determine if the replacement is compatible.

According to the VIN and research I did above, the part is compatible, however, it would be good to know what the coding was of the old module.......

Well than it's coded correctly or was wrong to begin with or another issue exists between the modules.

Please try clearing faults in 0x17 and 0x19 to see if this allows the DTC to be cleared in 0x01

Check for communications of modules in block 125> area ..........with VCDS adv Measuring blocks.

I don't think this is a coding problem and more likely a wiring issue or legacy DTC's left behind from bad ABS module.

Maybe no ABS module was needed since you could talk to the old one........ and it was wiring all along..........?

Please RTFB and overlay the twisted pair for CAN High/Low to test and trace the WD.

Hi Joe,

Can you be confident in the newly-installed used ABS module arrived fault free?

The problem was the abs pump was leaking a lot..

I then fitted the pump and module from the audi

After that I fitted the original module to the replacement pump hoping that make a difference

Exactly..........fix the CAN High/Low to the cluster contained gateway, because you are speaking with the controller on its separate K line with VCDS.

Trace and repair or overlay via WD.

Do you have a WD?

Are you down with JPPSG?
http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthr...essional-Problem-Solver-Guide-quot-JPPSG-quot

or is all good now after faults cleared?

If both the origin module and pump worked fine except the leak, and now the original module has been refitted doesn't that point to replacement pump??

No the faults are for communication issues not a pump.
Overlay test is required first for testing.

when the can code is cleared ive had alittle success with the output test, it beeps a few times and says completed.. then on other attempts it doesnt work and the can code returns.

ill be honest, reading wiring diagrams have never been my strongest skill...

when first fitted, i pluged in the audi module and pump without disconnecting the battery/same for disconnecting the original one, would this cause any problems?

brake fluid has also leaked a fair bit onto the module harness

ive checked the abs fuse, its ok
