If VCDS won't start up at all after updating, make sure that Zone Alarm or your virus scanner are not blocking/quarantining the file. Make sure it says Release 18.9 at the top of the screen. If says an older version then something didn't go right. Check the shortcut on your desktop to make sure it's for Release 19.6. If needed, exit out of VCDS then repeat steps 1-3.

I'm guessing that should be 19.6 now?
Apparently I should put something witty or profound in here...

    Fixed it for him.

The engineering problems are likely insurmountable. It would be like proposing to land a rocket booster section on a barge floating in the middle of the ocean.

There are at least four control modules in that car that your "legacy" interface can't communicate with. So yes, an interface upgrade would be recommended.

    Hi,

Recently, I had upgraded to a new laptop that runs Windows 10 64 bit version. I installed VCDS version 19.6.1. When I launch VCDS from desktop shortcut, the program does not launch. Following are the checks I have performed.

    1. When I check the task manager, the program is not listed in the processes.
    2. Tried running the program in Administrator mode.
    3. Tried troubleshooting compatibility issues and ran in Win8 and Win7 compatibility modes.
    4. Checked that firewall has been configured to allow VCDS.
    5. Added VCDS.exe as an exception in the antivirus software.

None of these work. Any pointers to what could be the problem?

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: I have the Hex-V2 interface with a 3-VIN license.

At this point, I think there are more people running Windows 10 and the x64 version of VCDS than any other combination, so there has to be something peculiar about your computer.

Try the "Install 32-bit EXE on 64-bit System" option in the installer to see if that helps.

If that still doesn't work, I would suggest uninstalling and and all bloatware and nannyware that came pre-installed on this computer.

That solved the problem. VCDS now works.

Thanks a lot for the solution.
