thank you I will give it a try tomorrow. anyway it's funny on how PLA 2.0 must be disabled in order for 3.0 to work. being just an improved version of the same feature, I would guess extra bits need to be enabled, but without disabling whatever is already there.

also, I happened to read around about parameterization of the module, like it could be an issue if it's not coming out of a Golf. I am asking because I don't know anything about the donor car for mine...

If it's coming from Golf or Audi A3, you should be fine. If it's from Skoda, then you'll have issues with the parking brake as Skoda has manual parking brake and Golf/Audi has electronic one.

And yes, it's a little confusing that you need to disable bits regarding PLA and enable another bits regarding PLA but that's how VAG has designed them to be coded

New features that are coming with PLA3.0 and especially with the 5QA module like maneuvre braking and exit assist.

Yes, it can be parameterized to match your car. Golf file is available at least and that should be fine.

Of course VCDS can not be used for that, you need the other tool.

sorry it took me a bit to have time to finish the project. I just did the upgrade. I changed 03 and 17 coding like you told me and then I changed the 10 by trial and error, using the label. it definitely came from a car with auto trans. no problems at all with parking brake so maybe I was lucky for once.

what I can tell after a short test drive is:

- front parking sensor do not activate automatically anymore, like when driving close to a wall.
- I do not understand how to perform front parking. where can I find manual or SSP for PLA 3.0?

also, maybe I need to change some adaptations here and there but I wouldn't know. one thing I notice is wheel circumference is different (I have 225/45/17).

can you maybe guide me more?

That looks good already. Minor tweaks and you're done.

The automatic activation is in the coding of module 10. I'll have a look at that at some point. Your wheel circ. adapatation should be set to 1965. That is for 17" wheels. 1970 or 1975 is for 16".
Try this for park/steer assist module 10 coding : 0271167041

Then the front parking. You activate it so that you already start the front parking to perpendicular park manually. Just drive a little bit forward to the parking spot and then press the park assist button. It will start the automatic maneuvring and put the car in perpendicular parking space, front first.

Sorry for the bad picture but you'll get the idea. You drive the car like that in the display and then press park assist button. That activates perpendicular parking nose first.

And look this educational video of Superb PLA3.0. Seems that you can also activate nose first parking by pressing the park assist button second time when it has found a perpendicular parking spot. I haven't tried that so can't confirm it works.

Then the coding, you did not have bit 6 "park/steer assist active/installed" enabled which should be. Then bit 5 "directional stabilization ...", that was activated on all VW and Skoda autoscans I checked.
My PLA3.0 module coding is : 0271167851. I have automatic transmission and ACC, so if I strip those out from the coding, it leaves : 0271167041 which is the coding I proposed to you.

I will try that, the coding I mean, but I am perplexed. if you look at my old PLA 2.0 coding, lots of stuff was disabled and still it was working fine. that coding was on the famous spanish PDF.

Yes I know. Pla2.0 coding is different. And if you look at that famous spanish document, the installation guide is for park assist 2.0. The the ”upgrade” to 3.0 is really shallow on instructions.

If you look for Skoda Superb or Octavia 3 autoscans which have the newer 5QA module, all have it coded like this. So there’s a big contradiction between the spanish guide and the reality.

That coding I gave you works in my car perfectly

if I change the byte to 50 I get only the first error, which will stay of course.

I have not performed a drive test and put back 10 into the byte, which gives no errors.

I do not know german but both errors tell me the module does not give or receive a message (via CAN, of course) to some other modules. maybe some coding/admap has to be changed elsewhere.

The other one requires blind spot monitor radars and the other one lane assist camera to the windscreen. REALLY BAD translations in VCDS long coding helper.

The park/steer assist activated is more likely rear cross traffic alert automatic brake function and the directional stabilization is for something that requires the camera.

So unless you don’t retrofit those two, disable the bits.

By the way, Blind spot monitoring is really easy retrofit. And cheap as you can get the parts from the good

I guess I am close to the end of my retrofits list, probably after ACC. I think I don't really want to take out the rear bumper again for Blind Spot. what is so appealing about it? shouldn't I replace/rewire external mirrors as well?

one thing I would really like is the camera for Lane Change but replacing the windshield is out of the game. I know some people install it without replacing it, with some questionable methods. I don't want that.

Blind spot monitoring is a piece of cake. You don't need to replace mirrors entirely. Just the mirror glass. Golf fortunately has the indicator embedded to the glass instead of the mirror housing which would make you swap more bits.

I bought just the radar units from this seller. If you look at my car page in reference scans section of this forum, (Seat Leon 1.2 TSI DSG Style), there's a small guide on BSM system installation as well.

And I agree with Lane assist camera. If it not have been on my car as standard (bought the car 2nd hand), I would've not bothered with it. BUT, if for a some reason you need to replace the windshield (crack, damage or something) then go for a version with the camera holder. And you're right. Fixing it somehow without the actual holder is well, insane. The camera is part of cars autonomous systems and it is VERY picky about the calibration and right position.

still you have not described BSD functionality and I honestly don't see it as a useful feature. also I do not trust that chinese bazar that much, I don't believe what they sell is OEM. so I was ok in ordering a piece of plastic (dash trim) but I would not buy a control module, let alone one involved in safety.

just out of curiosity, can you link your reference scan? one of the last things of my list requires me to take out door panels and add wires to the door connectors, I will add some extra for sure. like when I pulled wires from cabin to engine, I needed 9 + 1 CAN pair and I pulled 16 + 4 CAN pairs. you never know, right? now I have wires just waiting for ACC retrofit.

if I were ever to replace the windshield, I would go for the camera version for sure. maybe also heated heated windscreen. I even have insurance for windows damage, sometimes I almost wish I find a crack lol.

BSD provides like name says,blind spot monitoring by blinking the mirror indicator on the side there’s a car, bike or motorcycle in the blind spot. It also has steering assist if change lane when there’s a car on that side. Steering puts some counter weight and blinks the warning light.
Another good feature is with park pilot/assist the rear cross traffic alert. When you back out from parking spot it recognizes if there’s a car, bike or pedestrian and warns with visual indication on the park assist view and also with audio. If the user does not react the car will automatically brake.

And I’ve never had any issues with modules ordered from China. The parts are 100% OEM. Same parts are shipped to europe anyway. Just make sure that the parts have the same OEM number. There are some parts with 5QD or 5KD prefix. Those are meant for Asian markets.
They are sooo much cheaper and what’s best, they’re brand new.

after upgrading to PLA 3.0 I got a new button, the blue one in the picture. I suppose it is the auto-brake. first of all, is it enabled with the button white or blue? second, I tried driving very slowly towards a wall and the car never brake. my dad was watching and yelled to stop at like 5 cm from the wall. so, is it correct to assume the auto-brake works only during Park Assist operation?

with PLA 2.0, when using Exit Assist to get out of a tight spot, they car hit the brakes automatically once and I got a big BRAKE!!! warning on the dash. but I had no button on the radio screen.

also, do you know how to disable the "Look! Safe to move?" from the screen. Come on VAG, we are not babies.

I got all the modules I replaced in my car in europe, and I noticed all of them are made somewhere around europe. that is why I assumed any stuff coming from china would be a clone.

My MIB unit is first gen so I don’t have the maneuvre brake setting visible at all in the settings.
It should be enabled as I have it enabled in the adaptations and if I change the ABS coding it yells immediately that maneuvre brake disabled.
I also did try the braking against a big cardboard box and car did not brake. I’m guessing this is similar like with front assist. That I’ve only gotten to give me the warning scream once when I was intentionally trying. My wife got it to engage the brakes as well when the traffic suddenly stopped and she did not notice it in time.
So what I’m trying to write here is that probably the conditions have to be non intentional. When you’re trying to trigger it you’re not accelerating normally and you’re kinda helping with brakes. That’s probably why it does not engage, don’t know really.

The maneuvre brake is active always when the parking sensors are active. Does not need to be in automatic parking mode. All the 5QA prefixed modules (4channel & 8channel park pilot and PLA) have the brake function.

The brake function in PLA2.0 module is not the same.

after driving the car around for a bit I am considering to go back to PLA 2.0. this 3.0 version is probably too smart, or I am not smart enough to handle it.

I find the usage to be somehow difficult and definitely not intuitive. the system should detect automatically what kind of parking space I pass by, but I am never sure if it got it or not. most of the times I get "STATIONARY TIME NOT SUFFICIENT" on the display, I am not even sure what it means.

maybe it's all about reading the car manual but my manual does not describe 3.0 version, of course.

by the way, the manoeuvre brake definitely works. I was parking in reverse last night (manually, no PLA function) and it prevented me from hitting an obstacle I did not notice.

Nice, that's nice to know. That's a reason already to keep PLA3.0. The PLA2.0 module does not have that function

I bit the bullet as well and bought "features enabled" and CP free MIB2 High for my Seat. I'll think of it as a Christmas present for my wife (me) as it's her car

I finally should get all the missing features visible and what's best, Carplay and AA.
