Cruise Control + TRIP/MFD Function Stalks - 6Q0953503DJ
BCM Body Control module / J519 - 7H0937049AE

I want to add a MSFW - Multifunction Steering wheel [part # 7H5419091AG Original fitment upgrade for T5 - 4-Spoke MFSW with Cruise & Telephone Voice Control], for which I already have the correct BCM version to support this upgrade.

The main issue is, every thread I have seen talks about the 2010> T5.1 models and how to add MFSW to those models, for example this is the long coding options on a Polo 6r (which the newer T5.1 shares much of it's central electrics) -

koodaus_4.jpg.html

My BCM coding options seem very limited on the T5, so I'm not sure what I need to do to perform this upgrade (I know it's possible as it illustrates exactly the same MFSW in the user manual, where you can for example, control the cruise control from either the MFSW or the stalk)

My BCM:

Surely, I cannot be the ONLY person to have ever retro fitted an original MFSW to a T5 ...or an equivalent VW Polo ..??

edit. don't know why pictures don't show, but you can right-click and open them.

It is possible on the 6R to retrofit a MFSW. You need to ad a LIN-bus wire, a wire for illumination, a new airbag, and steeringwheel electronics

Yep, as you say on the newer 2010> T5.1 it is possible by adding a wire to the Lin-Bus - Ignition Live to Stalk Pin 9 & Stalk Pin 10 to BCM White Plug Pin 17..

there are quite a few posts for the Polo 6R & T5.1.. a very good one which is also applicable to the T5.1 is:

http://www.uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=54171

**BUT** and here's the thing - I don't think this is the same procedure for the 'pre-facelift' T5 2003-2009.. as the BCM's are different and don't appear to have the same coding options..

Maybe the 2003-2009 T5's are the same the Polo '9n' ... in which case I haven't come across ANY posts for either model where someone has done a retro-fit MFSW...

-Can anyone advise me whether the T5 and the Polo 9n share the same central electronics.. and in any case, what differences are there with the wiring / coding steps as opposed to the T5.1 ???

Yes, I know - I have bought this already :) .. as mentioned above .. "I want to add a MSFW - Multifunction Steering wheel [part # 7H5419091AG Original fitment upgrade for T5 - 4-Spoke MFSW with Cruise & Telephone Voice Control], for which I already have the correct BCM version to support this upgrade."

Now then.

Have you retro-fitted this wheel..? ... or has ANYONE ever retro-fitted this MFSW to a T5 .. ?

I have trawled the internet for days ....... but everyone is retro-fitting the newer style MFSW's on the newer T5.1 's or newer Polo's.. which has a different BCM / Coding setup and maybe different wiring setup too..

only info so far is this (which only confirms what I have already)..

You can search for golf4 mfsw retrofit. It has same type relay-module for broadcasting signals to can network.
Code:

As Golf_vend said you need to seach G4 retrofit.

Your to obsessed with the BCM as this has almost nothing to do with the retrofit (other than the cruise part)

You need steering wheel / loom
Might need new slip ring (airbag slip ring)
MFSW control unit (looks like a relay) - 1J0907487C
Wiring loom - https://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/multi-function-steering-wheel-harness-vw-bora-passat-3b-3bg-golf-4 (will need modifiying for T5)
Wiring connecting to each unit (Radio to control unit to steering wheel etc)

I looked into it and decided it wasnt worth the bother

Update.

thanks for the replies guys.. ok, so I now have the MFSW (7H5419091AG), the MFSW relay unit (1J0907487A) and a specific T5 MFSW loom (designed to retro-fit OE MFSW's to a T5) :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191832113408?clk_rvr_id=1058567817257&rmvSB=true

My slip-ring / clock-spring / steering wheel sensor is already the 5-pin version, so I should be ok there - and I believe my BCM Body Control module / J519 (7H0937049AE) should be ok too.

The thing is, the instructions for the MFSW wiring-loom are in German :banghead: .. and even after google-translation doesn't make much sense

I've spent the last 2-3 weeks on and off, trying to find out any info on MKIV forums, but no-one seems to have retro-fitted a OE MFSW on a MKIV using the CAN-bus relay 451 and associated MFSW wiring-loom

I am the stage of placing the wiring-loom into the relay-panel, but I just don't know which wire should go where? I know it should require less cables than non-CAN bus installation but need some advise here PLEASE!!

Once the MFSW loom/wiring is done, these are the codings I believe that work with Relay 451 1J0907487A :

00008 Audio and CCS (CAN disabled mode)
00118 Audio and CCS (CAN enabled mode)
00119 Audio, CCS & Phone (CAN enabled mode)

I have factory Cruise Control and Bluetooth Telephone.. so would want Cruise, Telephone and Audio controls to work from the MFSW.

Finally - after lots of reading I have wired up the MFSW control Relay 451, doubled checked wiring, coded it .. and.... nothing!

I have no lights on the wheel nor do the buttons work:

The above would indicate a power supply issue, but I am sure the relay is getting power..

Within the Measuring Blocks I've tried Groups 001/002 and nada.. no response from buttons..

what do you guys think..?

How have you got one with this? I am planning to do the same with a T5.
