    The roundish metal unit that you are pressing should be connected to a metal plate that the actuator rod goes through. I would nearly be sure this is fixed on with 2 8 or 10mm nuts.

    Alright, finally and update on this situation, The inlet manifold was cleaned, gasket replaced and put back together... the car no longer goes into limp mode past 60mph, BUT! I've got a new problem... I think it's turbo whistle (only starts making that noise about 1900rpm) lack of power makes pulling away at busy junctions a bit of a nightmare too. Is there anything on VCDS I can do? What should I do next? 5 litres of petrol and some matches?
