07 GTI Won't Start. Turns over and fires a couple times

Auto Up/Down windows just need to be re-synched.

From the driver's door:

1) Run a window all the way down. Continue to hold the switch in the down position for a 3-count. Release, and press down for another 3-count.
2) Run the window all the way up. Continue to hold the switch in the up position for a 3-count. Release, and press up for another 3-count.
You may need to repeat this a couple of times.

Once you get one working properly, repeat for the other window(s).

Passenger side worked when I got in the car today. I must have run it more times than the driver side. That did it for the driver side. Thanks. Now should I try to clear the codes to see what it's still putting out?

Still no start. Unable to clear all DTCs. It says Professional Grade interface required for this function.

With a Micro-CAN, you need to go to each control module that has fault codes and clear them there.

Deleted all the codes and the car almost starts! It turns over and fires multiple times but won't continue enough to run. It certainly sounds a whole lot closer to running than it did though. What next? Here's the new code readout:

Looks like MAF and G28 are suspect change G28 first to see if you hit the lotto.

Yup or installed with incorrect air gap from wrong part, or not installed properly for being seated causing FOD.

I bought a new MAF sensor on the chance that it was the problem, but the symptoms remained the same. I pulled the ECM and checked continuity on the wires from the crank position sensor to the 60 pin plug and they were fine. Could it be the ECM itself? Both MAF and CkPS are new and yet they both set codes. Hmm, any ideas folks? Should I put the ECM back in, and if so, how do I introduce it to the system? I saw the instructions in the Bentley book about use of a 5051 or 5052, but can it be done with VCDS?

You don't have to do anything, if You are going to connect Your own ECU back to Your car. If You are going to test with another one brand new or used ECU, You have to have PIN/SKC from old and new modules to adapt ECU to Immo.
Still having the same 000256 and 000801 DTC's even with parts replaced?

Tried a new MAF and got the same results, so I put the old MAF back in. It had tested good anyway. With MAF disconnected, I checked for voltage at the connector KOEO and got 12V between pins 2 and 3, 7V between pins 1 and 3 and -5V between pins 1 and 2.

I checked continuity from pins on the G28 connector to the ECU; pin 1 crank sensor to pin 52, pin 2 on crank sensor to pin 51 and pin 3 on crank sensor to pin 36. All had good continuity. Then cranking the engine with a voltmeter between pins 2 and 3 I got zero (0) V. Shouldn't I get 12V there?

Ran the codes after clearing and trying to start a few times. Now it's not setting any engine codes, but still won't quite start.

Yeah it was showing around 240 rpm.

It was showing around 240 rpm. That was before the "no codes". Now it's not showing any rpm.

I tested output from the crank sensor while cranking. Getting 1.2 - 1.9VAC.

Rechecked my work. Oops! Please disregard that faux pas. I left the connector apart after the test. No wonder I didn't get anything. Rechecking the crank sensor voltage was still 1.2-1.9VAC.

Now I'm getting only one code - crank sensor.
