Hello Guys,Gals and Gurus,
I've got a 2002 Mk4 Jetta wagon with the AFP vr6 and 5 speed manual that I've owned for 3 years or so, it's been a great vehicle, it's got roughly 210,000 miles on it but it has been babied and taken very good car of. I had a lifter and cam fail on it around 195,000 miles or so and repaired that but that's basically the only trouble I've ever had with it.
Okay on to the issues and everything i've done so far, that it's having now and has really got me stumped.
About a month ago I upgraded my stereo, I purchased it from Crutchfield and it came with dash kit, harness, ant adapter, and the steering wheel control interface module.
I didn't have any issue with the install except for the steering wheel module. They sold me the "PAC SWI-CP5" but the wiring that "pac" said to use does not exist in my vehicle. They say that all their wiring info says my vehicle has CAN wiring for the wheel controls, however mine does not and they could not give me wiring color codes or any info to install it, so I decided to leave that out for now till I could talk to you guys about wiring diagrams for it. Radio install went fine and sounds great. I did remove the K wiring from the harness and taped it up. been enjoying it for several weeks with no problems, no check engine lights or anything.
Now here's where the fun starts!
Recently I had to travel out of town so I decided to Install my Valentine 1 radar detector ( which I have had installed in my vehicle before)
Well Knucklehead me pulls the fuse #32while I had the key on and engine off which, is I think for the injectors. That caused a check engine light.
So I get out my trusty VAG-COM and plug it into vehicle and it won't communicate! I'm like "WTH, it worked last time i used it on this vehicle!
so I start "googleing" and searching here on the repair forums and learn to go to the option page and test. well,K-1 short to ground.read to start unplugging modules till you get a K1 and K2 okay, well got to the instrument cluster and seems it is the reason for the short, so there is problem number 1
Well after getting the "okay" i start scanning, well still nothing from engine, as well as several other modules. problem number 2!
the modules that I can talk to,I get a "INTERNAL ROD error" with a list "RD.ROD, RM.ROD,RS.ROD,RG,ROD,RA.ROD, and I get a fault code01314- can't decode.code file not loaded! intermittent
so, I,m getting frustrated!
Question #1...What is going on with this vehicle and where do I start?
Question #2...what caused this and why did it lose its CODE FILES?
Question #3...what do I need to do to correct it?
Question #4...after I get this repaired what are the correct wires and color codes for the Steering wheel controls?
Please if anyone could help me with this I would forever be in your dept!
Thanks in advance,
Knucklehead Chris
