Cotswold-crash.jpg

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "Shortly after 10.30am today, we responded to reports of a light aircraft which appeared to have overshot the runway at Cotswold Airport, ending up in a ditch beside the A429. "
There were no reported deaths or serious injuries. The pilot and two passengers have been taken to hospital as a precaution.

A life-changing experience for the airplane occupants. Or at least an underwear-changing experience for them and the tower controller.

Are Whirlybirds allowed in here?

I do some work for our local rescue Helicopter organisation and got to use their flight simulator - built from a Tsunami damaged Sikorsky S–76.

It's NZ Civil Aviation Authority approved for certain Pilot flying hours too.

We went as a family: Myself, my Wife and 3 boys; 12,10 and nearly 8 and all had a turn.

Outside:

My Wife attempting her first landing:
Reminds me of:

On a scale of 1 to 10, what makes flying an aircraft difficult?
* Taking off: 2
* Flying (and not getting lost): 3
* Landing: 4
* Landing well enough you can use the aircraft again: 5
* Landing well enough that your passengers will fly with you again: 6
* Having the judgement and strength of character to say “I know I promised we'd fly there today, but the weather is bad so we're going to have to wait a day and miss that thing you wanted to go to”: 10

Those are my favourites!

I landed (with help) on the hospital I work at. Then took off from there and played around and landed a couple more times.

If we'd had more time, I wanted to fly back to the hospital and crash into it, for fun :D
