Not working with 09 Jetta Sportwagon

My Hex-Com interface works fine with my 04 Golf TDI, and I have used it at least occasionally. Today, my wife's 09 Jetta TDI Sportwagon showed a check engine light. I cannot get any response to anything. It acts as tho there is no car there. The plug does seem to be difficult and I cannot be certain it plugs in all the way. Is this something that anyone else has encountered? Thanks for any help.

A HEX-COM supports diagnostics via K-Lines only, it has no support for a direct CAN connection, which an 09 Jetta requires. You can do a trade-in upgrade here.
