I stand corrected, ODIS works but only in "OBD" mode and not "guided fault finding".

Looking at ODIS , the coding for module 46 has a parameter called "horn_acknowledgement" which is found in byte 4. On my coding it went from Hex 00 with it "inactive" to Hex 40 when I activated it. As I don't have an alarm in my car the horn on locking didn't seem to work. You could give that a go by adding hex 40 to whatever you have at byte 4.

Thanks Spyderboyant.. can you confirm if that is on an old(er) 4L Q7 or the new 4M?

I will give it a go tonight when the other half gets back with the car!

Is there any way you can check to see what horn acknowledgement is changing in the coding if you toggle it on/off? Does it actually stop the beeping if you alter it?

    Thanks again

    Andy

    Hi Andy,

    definitely byte 4 to 40 "

When I changed it and locked the car it didn't beep for me. When I get a chance over the weekend I will try again and try and decode some of the bits we have set. It is really painful as I cannot toggle the setting in the "text" mode and then switch to binary mode which shows which bit is set. I need to make the change and then switch to binary mode and hunt around to see which byte has changed! Also, because the MMI seems to change some of the bits, they may actually be in fact bits that get toggled? The reason I say that is I have memory seats with folding mirrors yet the "text" description for "memory mirrors" wasn't "active" yet the memory definitely works! Then again, the mirrors (like in the old Q7 4L) might be driven by the seat memory controller..... would need to check wiring diagrams to see if this is the case!

    Byte Hex BINARY
    0 01 00000001
    1 35 00110101
    2 1e 00011110
    3 00 00000000
    4 10 01000000 <<< after setting horn_ acknowledgement goes from 00 to 40

    cheers
    Ant

Thanks Spyder, I'm going to try this in a moment

Can you send me your long coding with it enabled also?

    Cheers

    Andy

I wasnt comfortable changing anything as I wasnt sure Spyder.

Here is a photo of my Long Coding (without changing anything) in Module 46.

I couldnt see a "horn_acknowledgement" under the Adaption Channels either (VCDS 16.5.1)

    Hey Andy,

that's because VCDS doesn't have a label file for this module yet. I got the descriptions from the official VAG tool ODIS 3.0.1

    >>>> How did you get to paste an image in your post? I can only put in a link to a URL? I could post the setting as per the ODIS screen.

Its interesting that your settings for this channel is 2F. This must be because you actually have an audible alarm etc... which my car doesn't have.

Looking around the web, it might actually be an adaption channel that makes the beeps. Below from an A3 2013:

Acoustic (Alarm Beep) on Lock - TESTED AUDI A3 1.2T 13
    --------------------
NOTE: Car makes one chirping sound, does not use the horn.
    [09] Central Electronics -> Adaptation ->
Acknowledgement Signals - Akustische Rueckmeldung verriegeln (Lock acoustic feedback)
CHANGE: Set each or one of them to Yes

Acoustic (Alarm Beep) on Unlock - TESTED AUDI A3 1.2T 13
    --------------------
NOTE: Car makes two chirping sounds, does not use the horn.
    [09] Central Electronics -> Adaptation ->
Acknowledgement Signals - Akustische Rueckmeldung entriegen (Un-lock acoustic feedback)
CHANGE: Set each or one of them to Yes

Once again, I would need to see what ODIS says as it obviously has the labels for the settings....
