Hi all,

We do a lot of cruise control retrofitting but yesterday was our first attempt at a Mk7 Golf. All went smoothly until the activation stage. I followed the guide on the wiki which was basically the same as lots of other models but ended up with no cruise working and a fault code in 01 Engine.

I suspect the issue is something to do with regular CC vs ACC.

All feedback appreciated.

George

GeoDCS: You are clearly a professional and it appears also well experienced in this type of retrofit, so I'm hesitant to make comment. But, without wishing to seem impertinent and just on the off-chance that it might have been missed - was the black/white wire shown in the WD below fitted between 01-Engine and steering wheel control modules?

Hi Don,

No problem at all. It's always good to start with the basics! Yes I fitted the additional wire from the steering wheel controller pin 5 to the engine ECU pin 46.

It is certainly strange. I checked all of the control modules in the car to make sure that I wasn't missing a cruise control related coding option. But turned up nothing.

Hopefully we will get another Mk7 with cruise into the workshop before too long so that I can have a look at the coding on that. Otherwise I'm not sure where to go with it.

GoeDCS: I've got a mk7 with CCS. Here are the pertinent screens shots related to CCS from my car:

For the 01 Engine module on my car:
Address 01: Engine (J623-CHPA) Labels: 04E-907-309-V1.clb
Part No SW: 04E 906 016 G HW: 04E 907 309 A
Component: 1.4l R4 TSI H08 5272
Revision: WAH08---
Coding: 01250032242405082000
wHE639A.png

The code string from your engine module (from your autoscan) is 01110012032511092000, or displayed differently the code is:
jsgq1we.png

So it looks like Byte 5, Bit 5 is set (which it should be)

For the 16-Steering Wheel module on my car
Address 16: Steering wheel (J527) Labels: 5Q0-953-549.clb
Part No SW: 5Q0 953 507 AE HW: 5Q0 953 549 A
Component: Lenks. Modul 007 0070
Revision: -------- Serial number: 08011304220489
Coding: 0500
eaCsVfw.png

We have the same series module - the code for your 16-steering wheel is 1600 and the code for mine is 0500. So, on your car Byte 0 has a value of Hex16 which is binary 0001 0110. The upper-nibble value for this Byte suggests that you engage CCS via the turn indicator stalk. Is this correct? If this is not the case (i.e. you use the CCS steering wheel buttons) why not try changing the value of this Byte to Hex06 (even though this means "Cruise Control not installed", it's the setting that is used on my car - which has CC factory fitted

Hi Don,

Thanks for the helpful reply. The kit we got from VW has the cruise buttons on the indicator stalk. Where are they on your car (which presumably has a factory fitted setup)?

I haven't tried any other coding options in 16 steering wheel controller (didn't even occur to me to try) but I will certainly give it a go.

George: on my car, the CCS is enabled via the steering wheel buttons.
Don

PS: Hmm........ is CCS a defined term on this forum?

Ok so just to follow up on this. We got the car back in this morning and tried every possible combination of coding without success. So in the end I had to admit defeat and undo the retrofit.

Just a note, was is pin 46 ?
If the diagram Don showed is correct for your car, it is pin 56 (94 pin connector).

GeoDCS: as you have been through quite a bit of these retrofits: Does the 8v/MQB A3 behave the same as this MK7 Golf? I want to retrofit CCS to my own car, but I don't know if me, myself and VCDS would be successful.

Do I need the dealer's help with connecting the car to have SVM performed? Can I perform the retrofit entirely on my own?

Hello guys,
Golf MK7, same problem with the fault code on engine regarding coding of ECU in powertrain data bus after retrofitting CCS.
Engine code is CRBC, pinout conected from steering wheel controler pin 5 to engine controler pin 46 for this engine ECU.
All coding done like in the ross tech wiki page.
I will post an autoscan later on.
Any ideas someone? GeoDCS have you sorted out in the end?

Kind regards

Thank you for your reply. CCS in this case is MFSW based, not on turning stalk. Main difference in this is the coding for steering wheel module that i have sorted out it should be CCS not installed.

The engine for that guide is gasoline 1.2 tsi that involves replacing accelerator pedal. For 2.0 cr CRBC engine is this necesary to?

I want to mention that the speed limiter function is functioning properly but the cruise control function icon appears with the “attention” mark on the display and it does not function at all.

Acc. pedal is needed to be changed only if kick-down is missing.

Point of my post was that You need to have FEC enabled and transfered to gateway for Cruise to be working. As Cruise is now SWAP function, meaning You have to pay VW. Swap codes are only included in VW retrofit kits and can only be activated via online connection through ODIS to VW motherserver.

Got it now. Is the swap code universal valid or do we have to buy a retrofit kit from the dealer to have this swap code.

Meaning, can the dealer use any swap code from any retrofitting kit to enable this function?

As the document included with my cruise kit contained random numbers and letters, I only guess it's specific and 1 time usable, then tied to car VIN.
PS! After FEC was implemented, PR code also changed when viewing VIN in PL24. It was 8T0 - No Cruise to 8T6 - Cruise with speed limiter.
