It seems I may have hit a wall here... I posted on Audi-Sport.net because they had a very long thread with a lot of active users on VCDS mods (http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/8v-vcds-mods.206515/page-73), and someone who took a look @ the wiring diagram confirmed that coding doesn't seem to be the answer here unfortunately..

"Don't really have the time to dig in to this but with a fast look it would seem that your "side lights" are hardwired to your licence plate lights, left side via BCM pin 59 of connector T73a. If this is indeed the case you will need to remove the splicing or to open the headlight cluster and disconnect the bulbs." - Paraphrased for an edit he came back with.

Bummer. Sounds like my speculation in post #53 is correct (M33/34 spliced to plate lights) .. but it may not flag codes if you pull the bulbs.

AudiSport: No wall has been hit - Bingo, there's your answer!!!

Here's the Leuchte-set for your BCM for Pin #59, Socket A (I've re-arranged the channel sequence, so that the "Alpa-pairs" are more easily read):

Code:
ENG116961-ENG116347-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lasttyp 25	 ->	43 - allgemeine LED
ENG116961-ENG116577-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lampendefektbitposition 25	 ->	28
ENG116961-ENG116349-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC 25	 ->	30
ENG116961-ENG116350-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion A 25	 ->	Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht: Positionslicht: Begrenzungslicht)
ENG116961-ENG116351-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion B 25	 ->	Coming Home oder Leaving Home aktiv
ENG116961-ENG116352-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimmwert AB 25	 ->	100
ENG116961-ENG116353-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtansteuerung HD AB 25	 ->	Always
ENG116961-ENG116354-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion C 25	 ->	not active
ENG116961-ENG116355-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion D 25	 ->	not active
ENG116961-ENG116356-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimmwert CD 25	 ->	0
ENG116961-ENG116357-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimming Direction CD 25	 ->	maximize
ENG116961-ENG116358-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion E 25	 ->	beidseitiges Dauerparklicht
ENG116961-ENG116359-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion F 25	 ->	not active
ENG116961-ENG116360-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimmwert EF 25	 ->	100
ENG116961-ENG116361-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimming Direction EF 25	 ->	maximize
ENG116961-ENG116362-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion G 25	 ->	not active
ENG116961-ENG116363-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion H 25	 ->	not active
ENG116961-ENG116364-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimmwert GH 25	 ->	0
ENG116961-ENG116365-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimming Direction GH 25	 ->	maximize

As you will read, there's nothing particularly remarkable about the Leutche-set - except for the "beidseitiges Dauerparklicht " command, which has been placed (by the Audi factory - I assume) in the the sequence such that this lighting function has the greatest priority. Mr Google translates this command as double-sided continuous parking light - so if you read the EF "Leuchte sub-group" it says that the lamp(s) on this pin should be illuminated 100% continuously as parking lights - with the highest priority!

Now, I've not seen this leuchte-command used in this mode before (which means nothing at all), but if DJAlix is correct (and he/she normally is correct) why not try changing:
ENG116961-ENG116358-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion E 25 to not active,

and to clean-up the hanging auxiliary command - also change:
ENG116961-ENG116360-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimmwert EF 25 to 0

hadez: and as a corollary to the post above, your car has the following Leuchte-set

Code:
ENG116961-ENG116347-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lasttyp 25,9 - allgemeine Glühlampe 27W: auch H15 ,16
ENG116961-ENG116577-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lampendefektbitposition 25,28 ,16
ENG116961-ENG116349-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC 25,30 ,16
ENG116961-ENG116350-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion A 25,Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht: Positionslicht: Begrenzungslicht) ,16
ENG116961-ENG116351-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion B 25,nicht aktiv ,16
ENG116961-ENG116352-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimmwert AB 25,100 ,16
ENG116961-ENG116353-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtansteuerung HD AB 25,Always ,16
ENG116961-ENG116354-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion C 25,nicht aktiv ,16
ENG116961-ENG116355-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion D 25,nicht aktiv ,16
ENG116961-ENG116356-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimmwert CD 25,0 ,16
ENG116961-ENG116357-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimming Direction CD 25,maximize ,16
ENG116961-ENG116358-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion E 25,nicht aktiv ,16
ENG116961-ENG116359-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion F 25,nicht aktiv ,16
ENG116961-ENG116360-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimmwert EF 25,0 ,16
ENG116961-ENG116361-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimming Direction EF 25,maximize ,16
ENG116961-ENG116362-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion G 25,nicht aktiv ,16
ENG116961-ENG116363-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion H 25,nicht aktiv ,16
ENG116961-ENG116364-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimmwert GH 25,0 ,16
ENG116961-ENG116365-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Dimming Direction GH 25,maximize ,16

So the "beidseitiges Dauerparklicht" command is missing from this BCM pin.

If your car is similarly wired, try replicating the EF Leuchte sub-set from Audisport's car

@AudiSportB5S4

I have one simple idea.
ENG116961-ENG116350-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion A 25,Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht: Positionslicht: Begrenzungslicht) ,16
ENG116961-ENG116351-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion B 25,Coming Home oder Leaving Home aktiv ,16
ENG116961-ENG116358-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion E 25,beidseitiges Dauerparklicht ,16

Set these three light functions to "not active".

If there is really a wiring to the plate lights, the side markers will be shut off then.

Thanks for this but the upper light function "Standlicht allgemein" covers it all! So the plate lights (KZL - Kennzeichenbeleuchtung) are on as soon as any light is switched on. The "beidseitiges Dauerparklicht" is some kind of a redundant light function from my point of view.

hadez: Very interesting hypothesis!! I've not seen in factory coded Leutche-sets the concept of "redundant light function(s)". In my (albeit limited) experience, VW's programming of these adaptation channels has always been the epitome of German efficiency!

However, I foresee a problem with your suggestion: if DJAlix is correct (and he/she generally is correct), removing the "Standlicht allgemein" command from the HA59 Leuchte-set will mean that the license-plate light will no longer illuminate when the Parking lights are enabled (with low-beam).

Now, I'm not sure about the road rules in CT? (AudiSport's location), but down here in the backwaters of the deep south - our local "plod" take a very dim view (pun intended) of non functioning license plate lights! :)

Good news/bad news! Good news is they’re off!! Bad news is as you expected Don that now my license plate bulbs are out too which is deff an easy target for being pulled over at night. Doh!

Doing just the two you mentioned E25 for light function and dimmwert didnt work, only once i then made not active A25 as well (standlicht allegmein) did they finally turn off.

Does that mean it won’t be possible to have what I want? :( it looks so good with those damn orange beacons turned off! Lol..

Here's the teaser.... IT LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER!

Your statement would be true if there was a "NOT" at the end. (I put it in...)

The priority of the "Light function" go from H to A where H > A.
If Standlicht function in function A is removed, the lights would be still on if light function "beidseitiges Dauerparklicht" is switched on.

Wow...what a mess.
So somehwere is a hard-wiring from plate lights to side markers. I gues somewhere near the BCM.

Yeah.. Tangled web here!

Does the result of me turning off Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht: Positionslicht: Begrenzungslicht in A25 and losing both lights mean that the only way to achieve this now is for me to manually unplug those bulbs up front? I have a hard time believing that's the case if they are present on your car where you're trying to enable them.. Feels like it has to be in coding!

Right. It is not possible to do this via coding!

BCM Pin A59 ----> plate lights
....................|
....................|
....................X----> side markers

What a beatiful ASCII wiring diagram.

What you could do is pinning the side markers at an empty BCM Pin. Then you can control it via coding. For this you have to find the connection...

Yay! Haha... Thanks for confirming. I will most likely open up the headlights this weekend and see if I can't unplug them manually as I think that would be an easier route to take. Will report back!

What do you think you have to do in your situation to get them on? Maybe the plugs are just dangling and have to be connected :D

Haldez: hmm........... not sure that retaining the "beidseitiges Dauerparklicht" command in any way helps AidiSport solve the problem of the lamps being constantly illuminated. With the removal of this command from the Leuchte-set, at least Aidisport's problem is now reduced to the lamps only illuminating when low beams are switched-on. Beyond this, and as I have already suggested COMPLETE disablement of the lamps needs physical disconnections.

Minor update - went to go open up the headlights last weekend and unplug them (if possible) and of course the bumper has to come off... I already have my B5 S4 apart so I can't have both of my Audi's in shambles... Hopefully I build up the anger one day to get the headlights out and see if I can unplug somehow. If I got as far as taking the bumper off, headlight out, and I couldn't turn those bulbs off I'd probably burn it to the ground! :)

Oh - question .. So when I realized the bumper had to come off and I got down on my knees and cried to Audi - I was thinking - will that wiring diagram help me figure out which pin it is in the headlight plug? If so, can't I just unplug it from there rather than cutting my hands inside the housing?

So is this all that is needed to disable the ambers?

ENG116961-ENG116358-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lichtfunktion E 25 to not active,

And how do I dim the LED DRL's when my headlights are on? I want them to omit a light glow as to not take away from the Xenons.
