Hi,

Today I fitted a Passat B7 Steering wheel control module into my Passat B6 (2008) with DSG and MFL. Did the cabling and everything seems to work normal. However the G85 steering wheel angle sensor can not be calibrated. I tried using the ABS module, the STG16 and STG44. All say that it is not possible.

How can I perform a G85 Steering Wheel Angle sensor calibration with this new module? Apparently it is different from using the ABS module.

Looking at STG44 Measuring values 007, I don't see the first field changing when I rotate the wheel, however the torque (degr/sec) changes.

I get the following error:

How did you code the new module? The labels are incomplete in VCDS and yours look different to others I have seen.

I did code the module using the label files in vcds 15.7.4.

This module is from late b7 passat (2010>)

The previous modules are different in coding.

What exactly do you mean with wrong coded.

Thanks

I was looking at the coding of this module today in my car and some of the labels were not present. Were all the labels present when you coded?

Yes. They were present. I know what all the bits mean.

There is byte0 bit0 that can be set to have the g85 external. I was thinking for the passat the g85 is attached to the j527 module therefor this bit is set. You can also see that address 04 is showing OK. so I think there is nothing wrong with the communication. The procedure is simply different compared to the b6 (done via abs module)

Which module do you have and what is your coding?

That's what I was thinking regarding your problem..if the G85 could be set differently. Would you mind sharing the labels with me? For some reason I don't get them all even though my vcds is up to date.

I don't get it for every bit. Only for the ones I set.

Problem solved. The slipring was not centered. That is why the g85 could not be calibrated.
