Exclusively for R-T forum members, a preview of what what we expect to release as a public Beta version soon -- TEST version 16.3.0.

This includes:

  • An all-new UDS data set, which should support newer models, including some so-called 2017 models (a MY designation that I personally think is rather premature).
  • New "VAG Speak" locations for measuring values on UDS modules. These replace the formerly arbitrary location numbers for data items, which were subject to change with new data sets.
  • New HEX+CAN firmware that should make these old work-horse interfaces compatible with MLB2 platform cars.
The above are a few highlights and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of changes from 15.7.x.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to architectural constraints in some of our older interfaces, once you update the firmware in one, it will no longer be compatible with older versions of VCDS on cars that use CAN bus for diagnostics. You will have to use version 16.3 or newer from that point on and won't be able to revert to the previous release version, so don't download this and update your interface firmware unless you're willing to take some risk with a brand-new version that isn't even full public "Beta" yet.

We would appreciate it if you folks did not spread the following link (or the the software itself) around. All support for this TEST version will be right here, in this forum, and nowhere else. Not via e-mail, not over the phone.

If you don't have a really late model car that either doesn't work with your HEX+CAN interface, or that's missing ROD files, there's no compelling reason to download and install this.

By downloading and installing this software, you acknowledge that you've read everything I posted above. :thanks:

If you have questions about the software itself, please post them right here in this thread.

Please post Auto-Scans from this software in the Reference Scans section of the forum.

I'm aware it is still a Test but do you recommend cars with MIB2 to use this version? As MIB2 headunits isn't fully supported on latest VCDS 15.7, I assume this is a step forward or what?

What do you mean "Fully Supported"?

MIB2 works fine since 15.7.3.

I meant no long coding support for some modules like 5F. Are we getting those anytime soon?

There's no difference between this Test version and 15.7.4 in that respect, the coding data is exactly the same.

There should be some new data when it's officially released as a Beta. Whether it will cover your particular head unit, I don't know right now. There are so bloody many variations of these....:banghead:

Nope, no impact on the HEX-NET. As you know, HEX-NET updates are separate from VCDS and since the HEX-NET worked with the MLB2 cars to begin with, the HEX-NET does not require any firmware here.

The channel data is no longer properly sorted in Adaptations with this version. Possibly a bug.

Same here, when doing Controller Channel Map, the adaptation in CSV file are sorted in different order than it was in previous version 15.7.4.

First 50 lines from adpmap taken with version 15.7.4:

The sorting isn't the problem, the gathered data is pretty different resulting in different outputs. We've seen that behavior before and it's under investigation.

Seb you're somewhat right. In version 15.7.4 I have 593 lines in adpmap file, with version 16.3.0 I got 613 lines.

Here you can see the sorting issue, these are the last 50 lines of the file:

The order is based on how we're generating the dictionary files and in addition part of the problem you're reporting is the way how VCDS treats the main and sub-channels. At the present time, the consistency which would be needed to compare results created based different datasets isn't in the cards but I believe this is on our todo-list.

You obviously did NOT read the "IMPORTANT NOTE" in the 1st post...

Thanks for "help" Seb...... So no chances to make it work again even if you make it Beta?
