Okay, after thinking about it more, I ordered a new MAP sensor tonight. The one on there looks generic and this only started after I replaced my intercooler (which came with a new generic sensor). I have had issues with generic sensors in the past. I bought a new Bosch sensor, going to try that before the MAF sensor, hopefully this weekend.

ahhhh oh FOD?

You got a whiff of that shitty smell.

Parts made of straw and human feces of the orient?

When you walk into the Harbor Freight next time and get that smell ............that's what cancer smells like.

Wear a respirator.

Yep, I've smelled it before. I'll know this week if that was correct.

It is still the OEM maf sensor. But got the map sensor today and put it in. Let's see how things go tomorrow.

Timing was off

It is possible that your timing is off , and intake valve not open/close on time . This will cause to get MAF code.
Check your torsion value when engine is Hot,
01-Engine
08 MBV group 04 filed 4.
Value needs to be around 0 (+/- 1)
As well you could have bad MAF sensor . I have seen it on BEW .

I changed my timing belt and started getting the code. After trying everything, on my BEW, even though my timing was only off by -1, this is what it was. I advanced the timing slightly and problem was fixed. I never would have thought!!
