The number of the receiver module 3aa907273H

OK in that case you have more than one TPMS type enabled and that won't work. I would start with these steps:

1) Make sure all Indirect TPMS configurations are disabled.
  • Remove Address 4C-Tire Pressure II from the GAN Gateway using the [Installation List] function.
  • Remove TPMS from the ABS module coding.
Cycle the ignition, clear all fault codes and move onto #2.

2) Make sure all Direct TPMS configurations are disabled.
  • Remove Address 65-Tire Pressure from the GAN Gateway using the [Installation List] function.
  • Remove the incorrect Direct TPMS type in Byte 8 of the BCM coding.
Again, clear all codes, cycle the ignition and check the MFA/dash to make sure all TPMS menus and lights are gone.

If you need assistance with suggested the modifications above please post the original condition Auto-Scan from this vehicle so we can see the factory condition. It doesn't matter if that scan isn't in English.​

After doing so you have 2 of the 3 total TPMS systems disabled and we should take a look at a new scan at that point to see if the 3AA 907 273 H controller is communicating or not.

Module 65 shuts down if no sensors are detected and no you won't see the graphics if it has shut down, PS you can have virtual TPMS working with it as well their is no adverse effect on the direct TPMS.

If the sensors are fitted after the module was fitted it would be shut down and won't display anything it requires a 15 to 30min drive with the sensors< Note the MFD needs to support Direct TPMS and will automatically display, no coding needed for that. I had to change my MFD to get direct TPMS as it would't display at all with my white MFD, hope that helps, Supremo's TPMS is showing sensor fault also so that is poss the reason why its showing display is also a pos but seen as i only know the Tiguans display i can only comment on that it requires the new 2012 and above display to work. But when i had my 2011 white display no warnings where displayed.

I cannot comment on the MFD other than mine has a coding setting which I assumed was for displaying the TPMS page, but as it would not accept the coding I guess I need a newer MFD. I would be interested to know if that is correct and if it is possible to update the firmware in the MFD to a version that will display the TPMS.

This is a common misconception, Just for information the part numbers stated are for the huf generation 3 TPMS which works to recognise, position and display the tyre pressures within 50 seconds, although it can take longer depending on the drive cycle.

This system works by:

The Antenna and ECU are in the same case unlike previous BERU/Huf systems which had separate antenna and ECU's (and LF triggers)

The wheel sensors contain a bi-directional accelerometer which gets set one way for the left side and the other way when on the right side, the direction is transmitted to the ECU so it can determine which side the sensors are fitted.

The ECU then looks at the signal strength of the RF signal transmitted from the sensors, the stronger pair of sensors will be closer to the ECU so if the ECU is fitted at the rear the rear sensors signal strength will be higher than the front sensors,

these 2 pieces of information allow the ECU to position the sensors.

When the car starts moving above approx.15kph the sensors start to transmit what is known as a 'burst' which is 20 RF datagrams at 2 second intervals so the ECU can quickly gather the information required to position the sensors. After the burst has completed the sensors revert to the standard 30 second transmission interval.

If the ECU has failed to determine the positions during the burst period, it can continue to learn from the 30 second transmissions but it takes longer (can be up to 4 minutes if during continuous driving above 15kph).

When the car stops moving, the sensors will continue to transmit at 30 second intervals for 4 minutes before stopping transmissions. If the car starts moving within the 4 minutes the sensors will resume the 30 second transmission rate but if the car is stationary for more than 4 minutes the sensors will enter the burst state again when they start moving.

Each time the ECU is power cycled it will need to go through this process to confirm the sensors fitted or re-learn if a new sensor is fitted.




The only time the ECU will shut down is when the ignition is switched off, if the ECU will display dashes on the display until the sensor positions are confirmed/learnt, if the ECU fails to receive one or all sensors it will fail to learn and put the warning lamp on.


For anyone retrofitting one of these specific TPMS systems it is important to position the ECU correctly otherwise the ECU may not determine a difference in the front to rear RF signal strength.

My bad thats my coding, no no misconception i had to do a 15 to 30min drive before my TPMS activated again. If the system is powered up without the sensors it will shut itself down. No coding was needed to apart from a new updated CanGateway that i tried prior to changing my MFD all that had to be enabled was the Can Extension to see the TPMS, the display on my colour MFD the function wasn't there until the TPMS came back online. My white MFD on the tiguan wasn't capable of displaying this. Yes that is how the TPMS recognise the sensors which is really clever but look at the link and see that CBX also had their display disappear and not display until it was driven as per as section from his finding coupled with what i had when installing mine:

"4 April 2014 : TPMS High VW Golf Mark 5 GTI
Installed receiver module and cabling. Found that when the 4 wheel sensors are not sending any data, the system would shut down. Was puzzled why the display of the TPMS disappeared. VCDS diagnosis states that the TPMS have "Switched Off" .....

Drove down to HURRY TIRES and got Tristan to help install the sensors. Their workmanship and service is Excellent ! Everything done within 1 hour ! Really good service. They even washed the wheels ! My Detroits were sparkling when it was done.

After fitting the four wheels, the display came back but with no reading. Drove for about 5 mins.....and the pressure reading of the four wheels appeared on the screen"

As you can see a full exists in the TPMS no signal is being picked up, Which if it is the separate TPMS module like what i installed it deactivates its self and does not activate until the sensors have been found. Supremo i was told to get the black 433Mhz sensors as the orange ones where going to be a pain. On the TPMS module it should say the frequency of your sensors. and they do need to be installed in the wheel having them to work. i assume yours are installed in the tyres?

I was told the orange ones may need a dealer tool to program, is your module wired perm 12volts? also where did you locate the TPMS Module? Something to try let out around 2 to 3 PSI out of one sensor and then take it for a drive make sure its still with in what VW recommend for your vehicle. and let us know.

Supremo you have a Tiguan? If so i can say 100% if you haven't got coloured MFD its never going to show on a white Tiguan MFD. If you have a coloured display but the fault on the TPMS is still there you won't see the display

Supremo, as Dazza has asked, where is your ECU mounted, it is essential that it is fitted in the correct place for it to learn.

Did you check the sensors before fitting them, did they have the VW logo on them, there are many different versions of these sensors so you need to be sure you fitted the correct ones (RDE013)

The orange sensors (UVS01C4) are called intelli sensors which can be used for multiple manufacturers (VW and BMW) so need to be configured for a VW before fitting.


I'm in the same situation with the MFD not being able to show the pressures.

I am trying to get more info out of Huf but the engineer I deal with specialises in the Porsche and BMW systems whereas I engineer fitting these to prototype McLaren's and Ferrari's which now use the same huf hardware but programmed differently.

Yes you can use orange sensors aswell, as long as they are for your car.

Are you still getting the missing sensor fault or has it learnt yet, I am assuming they will have learnt by now as the fault had only occurred once while you were changing settings and maybe you hadnt driven it.

If not, then are you sensors definitely 3AA 907 275B and not 3AA 907 275 or 3AA 907275D as these are all slightly different.



Your original question was about the display, does it show the car with the blanks for pressure as below or can you not even see that?



After an ignition cycle, this is what you should see until the car is driven, once driven and the ECU has checked the sensors the pressure should show.

If you cant see this page then you need to activate it or replace the cluster!

... based on the most recent scan clip the low-line Golf based Direct TPMS, which is a function of the BCM, was still enabled. You can only have one #65 module online and communicating in the car at a time so make sure you deactivate that per step #2 in my post on 01-29-2016.

After doing so you should be able to move on to determining if the installed high-line module (3AA 907 273 H) is communicating or not.
