I've had very spotty results trying to change some lighting adaptation channels on my 2016 Golf R. I've run into persistent "Request out of range" errors. These happen after I successfully enter the security code (31347) into the 09-Cent Electronics module. When I locate the "Leuchte" channels and try to change the "Dimmwert" I get an "Error Request out of Range" dialog.
After several tries I was finally able to lower the orange front sidemarkers from 127 to 0 to turn them off. I decided that I did not want to do without the white LED in the headlights which are also turned off by this channel, but now I'm not able to get the original value accepted again. Getting the "Request out of range" each time (meaning driving the car for long periods between attempts, rebooting and reconnecting VCDS each time).
A bit more pressingly, in trying to adjust the brightness of the reverse lights (Leuchte 28RFL and 29RFL) I inadvertently changed the Dimmwert on these to 0 as well. Now I have no backup lights. Interestingly, the backup camera seems to get its power from this circuit as well, because it is not working either and has thrown a fault.
I'm running Windows 10 on a Surface Pro 4. Tried reinstalling the VCDS software - didn't help either. Any guidance would be most appreciated.
