I'm not sure how that came about . . . other than by my meddling! (and stop calling me Shirley! aka Airplane the movie reference). The BCM is correct since I have bi-xenon lamps, car is AT (not MT) and I don't have a spoiler. I'm just as confused as you! Can you help me get back to square 1?

Can you help me get back to square 1?

McSpiffy:

I've created the pertinent screen-shots that should be identical to those that you see with your cable below:

SZQjWbv.png

It should be self evident how these screens should fit into the sequence of pics that I posted previously

Select the options as shown in the first screen and make sure that the value in the "binary" box is EXACTLY as in the first pic - before you press the "X" in the upper RH corner (which will take you to the second picture).

In the second picture, make sure that the code-string in the "new coding" box is EXACTLY as shown in the screen. Then press Doit!

Good Luck

Don

OMG!!!! Dave, my car now thinks its a Porsche Panamera!!!!!

Just kidding. Thanks! . . . you saved my bacon! My camera works, once again. I started with a scan, cleared the DTCs that I discussed in the previous post. I also shut off the A/C while doing the follow-up scan and no further fault with the humidity sensor. For some reason I still get an error that the idle is too high when I attempt a coding with the engine running; I shut the engine off and VCDS allows me to make the change. I still get an option for ECO, Normal or Sporty under my ACC menu in the MMI; not sure if this was always here or if I just didn't notice it.

Thanks again!!!!

you saved my bacon! !!!!

McSpiffy: your words above remind me of a saying that my early engineering professor hammered into his fresh-faced students now many, many years ago (way back in the previous century). It's an ethos that I apply to most of my pursuits including VCDS and it goes like this :

The difference between commitment and involvement (to anything) is best described by the role of the chicken and the pig in an egg and bacon sandwich: the chicken is involved, but the pig is committed! :thanks:

Don't forget to clear all those DTC s in your auto-scan report

Don

This is a little off-topic now considering where this thread went, but...

... Just be aware that if you have coded your car to enable Light Assist, and your car is in the dealership for any reason, you may get it back with the Light Assist disabled. In my case, I had my car in for an alignment and since my car has DAP, it requires they hook it up to their computer to recalibrate the assistance systems. Not sure if it was deliberate on the part of the tech, or something their computer did automatically, but they returned my module A5 long coding to the factory default. The module 09 coding and adaptation values were left alone, and Light Assist still showed up in the car's menu. It took me some time to figure out that they had changed byte 2 in A5 back to '00' from '01.'

Just any FYI for anyone who might take their car in to the dealership and receive it back with Light Assist suddenly non-functional.

Didn't you get the fault error on MFD when you got the car back and tried to turn on HBA?
Also, strange that they haven't noticed the trouble codes on diagnostics.

Hi mtl,

Yep, I certainly did get the fault code. However, as the Light Assist is not technically a standard feature on the USA-spec 2016 GTI, I knew there was no point in asking them to "put it back the way it was," so to speak. :D

I seem to remember reading somewhere (though I can't remember where, now), that some 2016 models were "accidentally" shipped with Light Assist turned on in the software, before DOT approval was earned for the feature. It's possible VW's computer checks the A5 module for that programming any time a 2016 car is hooked up, and disables it in order to bring the car into DOT compliance. This of course, is just a theory... take it with many grains of salt.

Thx for the info. I was asking because I am astonished that they have returned the car with a fault to you. Usually they try to locate the fault, maybe also call the customer...
And since this fault was clearly visible with diagnostic equipment...

Merry Xmas to you all!

I decided to retrofit my Tiguan with bi-xenon (No AFS). This is the third time I'm doing such retrofit, I've done one for my Golf V GTI and one for my golf MK6 GTI. Both of them went fine!

EDIT: Please don't post a question about a Tiguan in a thread about a GTI, and especially when you already have a thread for your exact car:
