It turns out that the CAN installation has to be reset in order to cure this issue. I have another diagnostic tool which did this very easily (VCDS may do it but it wasn't obvious)

Thankfully normal order has been resumed.
    The question?
In one of these bytes is Autohold but is also electronic parking brake. Any ideas if I just want to activate autohold without EPB?
    yte 08 = was 00, now 03
    Byte 19 = was 00, now C0
    Byte 23 = was F6, now F7
    Byte 25 = was 42 , now 41
The above as suggested results in both autohold errors and EPB errors.

Can you clarify if you corrected the DSG errors only, or you managed to also activate auto hold?

At the moment I'm back to normal with no errors.

I can clairify that if you change byte 25 from 41 to 40 the HHC no longer operates (2 second hold)

I've calculated the 32 possible HEX combinations of those bytes assuming we only change the bits in your original suggestion and assuming that byte 25 is set to 40.

Just to try them now and yield the results. It may quite be that you cannot have Autohold without EPB (which Octavias don't have)

Or that none of the 32 / 64 combinations works

Is there anything I can do to help you guys (my vehicle has EPB and the auto-scan and other pertinent info should be in this thread). I'm just a bit afraid of trying something that could cause near-permanent errors, as I don't have any other tools beyond VCDS with which to try and clear them.

I wouldn't try anything. Hold tight, I think we're close.

    Ok, it's not looking good.
Today I tried the 32 possible combinations of byte 08, Byte 19, Byte 23 with Byte 25 set to 40 at all times.

Unfortunately 30 of the 32 were "coding rejected".
The 2 that were successful gave multiple EBP and Autohold errors and the same DSG error (related to EBP)

I will try the same 32 combinations again tomorrow but with the byte 25 set to 42 not 40 but I'm not hopeful.

It would seem that the ECU will not accept coding for autohold without EPB.
Unless anyone has any other ideas?

Ps VCDS will do the CAN installation reset but it asked for a 3 digit code to do it (nothing listed in any help box) so I had to use my Delphi tool to reset the CAN again after trying (that didn't require any code).

    I'll report back tomorrow :-)

Mine is a 2016 Octavia vRS TSI DSG with ACC and without EPB (it's not even an option on Octavia)

I have checked my friends Mk7 GTD manual with Autohold and his coding is like this....
    Byte 08 = 07
    Byte 19 = E0
    Byte 23 = F5
    Byte 25 = 60

I have put out a request on the Mk7 Golf forums for a standard coding string that matched my car more exactly. As you can see they are vastly different to the ones already posted.
    Good fun :-)
